To think this email is flirty

Got an email from a colleague I quite fancy and I’m not sure if I’m reading into it. “Are you sure you can manage that IT on your own? On a scale of confident to (person who’s terrible at IT) where are you?” Background the email is about something that needs doing after hours and I’ve asked this person for help before. Thoughts?

Not at all - to me anyway.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 06/11/2020 21:44

If that's all it says then I wouldn't say it's flirty. You must have a reason for thinking it is though, presumably?

Pipandmum · 06/11/2020 21:44

Doesn't flirty to me. It sounds like someone asking you if you think you can do it.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 06/11/2020 21:44

Hard to say. Are you good at IT so thinking this is a subtle way to try and spend time with you? Did you forget to mention the kisses at the end of the email?

I see nothing flirty in what you've written.

FingersCrossedForAllOfUs · 06/11/2020 21:45

Unless there is more to this email I can’t see anything flirty at all! Are you hoping it is or not?

Newmumatlast · 06/11/2020 21:45

I think would need to know more context as to the email you sent prompting that response. It doesn't sound particularly flirty to me but then sometimes I need hitting like a ton of bricks before I realise someone is flirting with me lol

NetflixWatcher · 06/11/2020 21:45

Umm..... no.

HappyChristmasDinosaur · 06/11/2020 21:46

Sounds more condescending to me, but I'm not good at the flirting thing.

lioncitygirl · 06/11/2020 21:48

errrrr - what now? I think hes just checking if you can manage on your own as i (assume) your not in IT?

BroomStickMick · 06/11/2020 21:51

Definitely an element of flirting, yes.

Suggested response:

I won't say no to your help, if that's what you're asking. And to answer your second question, I'm very confident.

Newfornow · 06/11/2020 21:51

Can’t sense any flirtation in that email. Unless they do not have to help you at all. It could appear they are offering to help . Maybe at a push .

CoffeeAndCake3 · 06/11/2020 21:51

No...

Bluntness100 · 06/11/2020 21:51

Ehrm no, but god you’ve got it bad,,😂

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 06/11/2020 21:52

More patronising than flirty.

leftovercoffeecake · 06/11/2020 21:52

No

Honeyroar · 06/11/2020 21:52

Sounds a little insulting to me. Like they think you’re not v good.

Bluntness100 · 06/11/2020 21:52

Definitely an element of flirting, yes

Holy shit, best i don’t offer to help my colleagues again . I misse that memo, 😂

SilverRoe · 06/11/2020 21:54

Uh, no and it’s also touching on patronising.

BecomeStronger · 06/11/2020 21:54

It's either condescending or a genuine offer of help, if this something you need help with, which may or may not be a ruse tonstayblate with you but I don't see it as flirty.

FAQs · 06/11/2020 21:55

Sounds like a patronising twat, but hey maybe that’s why I’m single, I’m not picking up signals ?!

SpeccyLime · 06/11/2020 21:57

I would say it’s friendly rather than flirty - maybe other indications of behaviour are giving you a flirty vibe that we can’t see!

RootinandTootin · 06/11/2020 21:57

The thing would be our of hours so we would have to spend time together, we’ve laughed before at how bad I am as he’s helped with really easy stuff before! The requirements were easy as well so I think it was light hearted. Probably am reading into it.

Ohtherewearethen · 06/11/2020 21:59

Nope, not remotely flirty in my opinion but we know nothing about either of you or your relationship or previous interactions. It reads like something my dad would send to me about DIY to be honest.

Itsokthanks · 06/11/2020 21:59

It's patronising. Nothing flirty about it to me.

Bluntness100 · 06/11/2020 22:04

I think he just knows you need help op.

But go for It you’ve clearly got it bad.
