If you were given a shopping list with dairy milk on it what would you buy?

Would you buy the much needed treat your DW had looked forward to eating all day. Or would you, like my DH, buy 6 pints of milk assuming the "dairy" was to differentiate between different varieties of milk! First and last time DH is entrusted to do the weekly shop unsupervised!

I just asked DH he said he’s buy milk. But because I drink oat milk and he and our daughter have cows milk, that’s his reasoning. Made me laugh though.

@Ddot

I'm with you on this one - Reindeer or Teddy Bear, I just don't care! I go by weight

Ddot · 07/11/2020 19:50

Dark with salt yum yum

MummyofT · 07/11/2020 19:51

Love this thread but Dairy milk is of course a Cadbury’s dairy milk bar.

I am heartbroken for you and would send him straight back out lol!

Fair enough I know what people are saying regarding different types of milk oat and soya and cows milk and more (I only drink oat whereas my daughter has cows milk) but I would assume the chocolate on a list without a doubt even though I actually say oh there’s only dairy milk when we run out of oat.

forgetthehousework · 07/11/2020 19:51

Just asked DH and he replied "Chocolate of course". Ah, he knows me so well Grin

monkeysox · 07/11/2020 19:57

I'd ltb for that

topcat2014 · 07/11/2020 19:59

This being MN I assumed milk related and didn't even think of the chocolate!

In real life I wouldn't make that mistake

PurpleMustang · 07/11/2020 20:02

Definitely chocolate. I thought you was going to say you had put Dairy Milk and he had picked up Fruit n Nut instead

Wilkie1956mog · 07/11/2020 20:18

Haha! The chocolate, of course. But if I'd been writing the list I'd have written Dairy Milk choc.

Tangledtresses · 07/11/2020 20:19

Big bar of chocolate 🍫!

Bubblemonkey · 07/11/2020 20:22

I’d have returned with chocolate Grin I’m lactose intolerant & drink almond milk. Even if I buy milk for the OH, I don’t specify what sort. He writes almond milk on his shopping lists cause if he doesn’t, I can bet he’ll come back with a bottle of semi skimmed cows milk 😒

TheDowagerDuchess · 07/11/2020 20:40

That is pretty funny.

I would have bought the chocolate if a list said “Dairy Milk”. Although I don’t actually like that chocolate!

Moo678 · 07/11/2020 20:51

I just asked my husband - he gave me a weird look and said ‘I’d have bought a big slab of chocolate.’

WellWeAreFuckedNow · 07/11/2020 20:52

I'd have bought cows milk unless it was stayed as Cadbury DM or chocolate etc.

NoahsArk17 · 07/11/2020 20:59

Me too. Couldn't get his head around anyone suggesting cows milk, maybe we're just greedy. Made me love him a little more 😂
Vinomummyinlockdown · 07/11/2020 21:08

Omg.
Well I’d probably have written “choc” - dairy milk pls - on my list and my husband would get it I reckon .... but WTAF how has this man never been out shopping alone?! My husband would’ve called or texted me before buying 1000 milks!

LindaEllen · 07/11/2020 21:19

I'd have bought chocolate, because we never put 'milk' on the list, as it's just a given that bread and milk are needed every week.

I'd be so gutted if I'd put chocolate on the list and DP didn't get it though (but I think he knows me better than to come home without some kind of treat!)

Sevendaysaweek · 07/11/2020 21:21

Chocolate

Celestine70 · 07/11/2020 21:34

You need to be specific with males. Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate.

Snaketime · 07/11/2020 22:58

I asked my DH the questionnin your title and he said he would have bought milk 🤦🏻‍♀️

sbhydrogen · 07/11/2020 23:02

If it were 'Dairy Milk' then chocolate bar, but 'dairy milk' I would assume to mean semi-skimmed (and then wondered why you were being so specific)

dolphinpose · 07/11/2020 23:03

I'd have bought a 200g bar of Dairy Milk and two pints of semi skimmed in case.

sbhydrogen · 07/11/2020 23:03

DH also said he'd buy milk

poppy54321 · 08/11/2020 00:13

We are obviously on the same wavelength. I read this and couldn’t think what else it could possibly be other than chocolate.

EBearhug · 08/11/2020 00:20

I was going to see a friend in France and texted to say I was at the airport and through security. She texted back, "can you get some dairy milk if they have some?" Seemed reasonable- hadn't been to France since the '80s, but I remembered they mistly seemed to have UHT. Went to the shop, texted back to say "mission successful, got a litre of semi skimmed." She texted back to say she meant Cadbury's. Luckily my flight hadn't been called, so went back to shop and arrived with milk and chocolate. Grin
