If there is one thing you can't be as a soldier, it is "precious". These are people who are issued with a shovel so they can dig themselves latrines and holes to sleep in. I'm sure they will survive the rigours of Pontins.

They should have joined the RAF instead - five star hotels.

What in earth are you on about! It's a holiday park! Easy access and all amenities on site. Good security too!

I haven't see the accommodation but having been a soldier for many years I know they'll have had worse accommodation in this country let alone on ops abroad. If they're in temporary accommodation and don't have 30 to a room and rubber mattresses then its luxurious.

Apparently their barracks are far better, pontins is notoriously bad. That said as long as they have special exemption to open the bar they will be happy

This particular pontins has the worst reputation of all of them too, so not great. But they will have survived much worse!

It will be a nice rest before the floods.
They can do sack races before putting sand in.
(Bastion was Mericun so actually quite nice, apart from a few locals who tried to blow it up. Even had kfc)

I bet when they saw those army ads that promise a way for you to see the world, they didn't imagine they'd end up at Pontins Southport.

In future years, they'll be at their veterans events talking in hushed tones about the horrors of staying in terrible accommodation. "I saw blue coats doing west end musicals, it was horrible".

having been an RAF wife, Who was generally given the shittiest accommodation the RAF could find, I dread to think how bad the army accommodation was if what I had was viewed as 5 star!
