Well, just that really?

I can feel it, Trump isn't going to go quietly. This is such a worry.

@NullcovoidNovember

The problem is though, they are saying that in some areas they have not allowed their watchers in. Why! God if I was bidens team I would be doing everything by the book!!
In Detroit two people were removed apparently - one for not wearing their mask correctly and refusing to "fix" it and the other for wearing a Halloween type mask so they couldn't be identified (against rules of attendance). I don't know which side they were observing for though, I read about it from another thread here.
Clarinsmum · 04/11/2020 22:39

It’s like 1860 over there. Insane.

NullcovoidNovember · 04/11/2020 22:39

I'm not so sure Amanda, I've just seen sky and its shown watchers not allowed close.

NullcovoidNovember · 04/11/2020 22:41

The irony is that they are still allowed fire arms to march on white House if ever someone is seizes it..
How ironic if trump refuses to go and they have to literally march on the white house for get him out using their right to bear arms.

AmandaHoldensLips · 04/11/2020 22:42

It's nail-biting.

TheJourneyWoman · 04/11/2020 22:43

There will be whoever wins. It's not been Trump supporters doing most of the rioting these past six months.

TheJourneyWoman · 04/11/2020 22:44

@Wildswim

I blame the Democrats too. The Democrats' identity politics and disdainful attitude towards poor white Americans has created resentment and distrust. The demonizing of anyone who doesn't agree with you/ didnt vote for the 'right side'. The shrill, puritan atmosphere and binary thinking of social media where you're either good or evil, the shutdown of civil debate and compromise that is cancel culture. We think it's bad here, it's way worse in the States.
100% this.
stopgap · 04/11/2020 22:46

I’ve been saying this for months. The unrest is awful. I live in a town that voted 75 percent for Biden. We had a man go into Dem hq in town and start effing and blinding at everyone, people stealing signs, and a far-right woman online threatening to shoot people. I’ve been in the US since 2003 and have never seen anything remotely like this.

AmandaHoldensLips · 04/11/2020 22:47

And even if Biden is a bit doddery, at least it won't feel like there's a complete madman in the whitehouse with a big red button and a really awful family who think all they're god.

I think we'd all settle for that right now.

stopgap · 04/11/2020 22:47

Trump is a fascist, period, end of, goodbye bots.

blarbed · 04/11/2020 22:48

If Trump doesn't go quietly after an election loss, then surely it will be blantantly obvious that he has no respect for democracy - and isn't the USA all about democracy? It's going to make him look like an even bigger plonker, and will probably fizzle out.

nancy75 · 04/11/2020 22:48

Ben Shapiro was getting death threats this morning for saying Trump shouldn’t have said he’d won yet. They’re even turning on their own

You do realize the Democratic Party was begun as a party of poor whites? It supports limited government control, states' rights, universal health care and affordable college education. It also introduced mainstreaming of special education students. Social programs were introduced and supported by Democrats.
Please consult something other than Wikipedia for information on Democrats.

blarbed · 04/11/2020 22:49

Hhmmmm, just read some posts from people actually living in America. Perhaps I am wrong.

kathrynjanewaykicksass · 04/11/2020 22:52

Interesting that Trump hasn't challenged the wins he had with a tiny majority but the ones he loses are fraudulent.
Also no high profile Republicans have spoken in support of Trump
Trump is dangerous to democracy, so worrying when a sitting president will use his powers to hold onto power---stinks of a Putin tactic. It's terrifying

There's a major difference. When all the votes are counted, if Trump wins (shudders), then Biden will graciously accept the result and call for calm. If Biden wins, Trump's meltdown will exceed his current state - which is already off the scale. He will CAUSE the unrest.
Miljea · 04/11/2020 23:00

No, I personally don't think there'll be 'major unrest', even if the orange one wins.

That requires a degree of commitment that most couldn't be bothered to raise..

Poppyappeal · 04/11/2020 23:05

I thin

ludothedog · 04/11/2020 23:10

Biden won't take office until January. Trump can do so much spiteful damage in that time. And don't forget that there is a hard covid winter coming full of death. I think voters turned out as they don't want a lock down as most are still untouched by the virus and don't see the threat. Perhaps by January they will think differently.

stopgap · 04/11/2020 23:12

All I hope is that security is beyond water tight for Inauguration Day. After all, Trump did tell the far right Proud Boys to, “stand back and stand by”.

EatTheHamTina · 04/11/2020 23:12

I saw one video 3 days before elections begun and the whole street of shops had boarded up everything.

MintyMabel · 04/11/2020 23:15

The problem is though, they are saying that in some areas they have not allowed their watchers in.

Those ares have webcams where you can watch what's happening.

Some twats think they can rock up and say they are concerned and they can come in. They can't.

They have done most of the killing though.

That old chestnut. Cities everywhere burning, yes?

Stripesnomore · 04/11/2020 23:19

As far as I understood it there has been major unrest for months?

People from both sides have been shot and killed by people on the other side. Buildings have been boarded up, burnt down. Part of Portland is no go for the police, leading to someone else dying because ambulances can’t go into police no go zones.

So the election just means more civil unrest and polarisation of the two extremes.
