To feel sorry for Trump?

I’ve name changed for this as I know I will get completely flamed. But AIBU to secretly feel a little bit sorry for Trump? He campaigned so hard for this election compared to Biden and seemed to put his absolute all into it.

The amount of hate he gets on social media is astounding - I honestly don’t know how one person can handle all that and keep on going. I would have had a nervous breakdown or worse by now if I was on the receiving end of that.

His kids clearly love him and they seem alright - perhaps he’s not so bad behind the scenes? I think losing this election will destroy him as a person and whilst I don’t agree with his political viewpoint, I can’t help but feel slightly sorry for the guy.

AIBU?

Yes, anyone who's themselves experienced any kind of loss really ought to feel at least a little sympathy for someone who's effectively just lost the best job in the world.

But, as already pointed out, he's led such a pampered, privileged, cosseted life in pretty much all other respects that it's very much time for him to count his blessings and move on with some dignity.

Dignity and the orange balloon are incompatible. He had been a disgrace to that office and like many many others I am delighted to see him thrown out.

This is the way a decent Republican concedes:

Janegrey333 · 06/11/2020 12:14

He has been a disgrace....

MadameBlobby · 06/11/2020 13:27

@tartanti

Surely Trump won’t actually be going to jail... will he?
Why not? That’s where felons go.

This is why he is shitting himself, loses the election loses his immunity

Duggeehugs82 · 06/11/2020 13:53

I hope he does goes prison, thats why hes clearly trying to delegitimise the election cause if he looses he is a citizen and will have to face consequences of his actions, announcing the election is a fraud , his followers are saying stop the count in some states and keep counting in others surely sane people know the batsh*tness that is. The post guy Dejoy has been summoned to sweep the post offices of vote ballots by a court, that he has kept in storage, which surely is illegal, hes refusing i wonder why, they all need to go prision all the people in his orbit who r doing illegal activity

Duggeehugs82 · 06/11/2020 13:55

His followers r in a cult and it will take years for them to he deprogrammed , they parrot all the same stuff. Its not a coincidence thats hes been trying to say mail in ballots r evil.

If he does (which he won’t), commiserations op, sounds like you’ll have to make time for nice little cry about it because you just feel so sorry for the poor man Grin

Some of the things they believe are batshit. QAnon, Pizzagate, Clinton’s murdering babies and drinking their blood to stay young...and they seriously believe it! 🙈

ClaireP20 · 06/11/2020 15:12

I feel sorry for Trump, but then I quite like him. I'll miss him when we go back to boring pc politics where everyone talks a good talk but nothing really changes.

Jennygentle · 06/11/2020 15:17

Ivana Trump said that he raped her after she asked for a divorce.
Wonderful man. I feel really, really sorry for him.

Yes indeed, 'boring pc politics' where groups of armed far right supremacists aren't described as 'fine people' and the people in charge don't refer to 'grabbing women by the pussy' and how they'd like to fuck their own children. The world is a better place with such stuff in it.

Are you making a joke here or is this actually how you feel? Blimey.
MrsDeltaB · 06/11/2020 15:31

Can't stand him but I do think he's set for a medical emergency sometime soon, his BP cannot be healthy.

Olmec8 · 06/11/2020 15:37

Each to their own but I think he's a deeply corrupt, dangerous individual. In fact lying and corruption are so ingrained in him I don't think even he thinks he's doing anything wrong. I half think he actually believes all this bullcrap about "stealing" the election.

MsPeachh · 06/11/2020 15:48

OP I do know where you are coming from! I’m as left as they come, abhor Trump’s policies and can’t wait to welcome Biden in. But it’s uncomfortable to watch him unraveling on tv and it’s sad that he’s been surrounded by yes-men who have enabled his delusions for so long: which has now caught up with him and left him looking a fool in front of the whole world.

the80sweregreat · 06/11/2020 15:56

I don't feel sorry for Trump at all but I do feel that Joe Biden won't be able to do much and things won't change a great deal. He doesn't come across as very dynamic really , but maybe he'll be better once his actually doing the job. Their economy must be in a better place than ours is in the UK , so that might help matters. I'm not sure of the Democrat policies , but many people will be pleased when they get a new president in the White House.

I'm not so sure - he was very energetic on the campaign trail, especially for a man of his age!

Exactly @MsPeachh. It's awful to watch.

He was energetic because he was pumped up on steroids as part of his covid "treatment "

GiantKitten · 06/11/2020 18:15

@longwayoff

I'm not a believer but I will probably be on my knees thanking God that the horror show that is Trump has been removed from the White House. Could he happen here in UK? USA has the oft quoted 'checks and balances' to protect the role of President from corruption and endangering the people. We've seen how effective it is. Would a Trump in No 10 be able to behave like the unfettered nutter in the White House or would it be possible to remove him? I think he'd be booted out, by fair means or foul, before it got to where Donny now is but I would never have believed that this situation could have arisen in the USA had we not been staring at it, mouths open in horror, for the past four years.
No 10 has been behaving like this (though with slightly more decorum) since last December Hmm

No it isn’t awful to watch someone like Trump come apart. He had lost - fair and square - due to the way he conducted himself. Three things come to mind although there are many more: • the mind blowing way he “managed” Covid

• his mocking of a disabled reporter

• his bullying

He is a monster.

Janegrey333 · 06/11/2020 18:25

...has lost

Janegrey333 · 06/11/2020 18:26

Good riddance. I cannot find it in me to wish him well.

RuffleCrow · 06/11/2020 18:29

come clean op did you post just to get flamed? Are we unwittingly doing exactly what you want us to do, for some reason?!

It's a presidential election. You don't get marks for effort.

He's the more ignorant and dangerous of two ignorant, dangerous old white men.

mbosnz · 06/11/2020 18:30

He wasn't a passenger in that. He ruthlessly deleted from around him anyone that wasn't a 'yes-man', and quite frankly he's been making a bloody fool of himself in front of the whole world for quite some time now.
