Yes when not at desk

ChristmasinJune · 04/11/2020 20:03

No, teacher in a special school and we are told we are not allowed to wear them!!

Can I ask what reasons you've been given for that?

I'm in a special school too and it's up to us but we have several things supplied to us, visors, masks and those little plastic Perspex things that sit on your chin.

None of the children have batted an eye at anything and the only time they commented was when I wore a mask with a pumpkin on.... which they liked.

HellsAngel81 · 04/11/2020 20:21

Yes. Work in a vets and we all (vets, nurses and receptionists) have to wear masks (medical grade), visors and aprons at all times. We aren't even allowing clients into the building with their pets Hmm

Bella43 · 04/11/2020 20:23

Yes. I'm used to it now. I prefer the disposable ones. They fit much better.

Halliehallie9828 · 04/11/2020 20:24

No, working from home currently.

I don’t want to wear one either when I return to the office but I don’t think il be returning to April / May next year so fingers crossed we won’t have to.

TheoriginalLEM · 04/11/2020 20:24

We are supposed to wear mask, apron, visor and gloves but we generally wear mask apron and gloves as its almost impossible to do my job with the visor as well

EternalOptimist7 · 04/11/2020 20:26

Not at the till but we’re supposed to wear one on the shopfloor

TheoriginalLEM · 04/11/2020 20:26

@hellsangel81 do you work for a corporate begining with c?

Groovee · 04/11/2020 20:29

Only when in the school building and when speaking to parents. We use them when serving lunch as our lunch area means we're in close proximity to the other staff.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 04/11/2020 20:31

Yes, NHS in patient services.
I am used to them now TBH.

PolytheneHam · 04/11/2020 20:32

Yep. 12.5 hour hospital shifts. Only taken off when eating and drinking on break. 50 per cent of the time I'm in other PPE too.

Mrsbclinton · 04/11/2020 20:37

Yes, I have to wear one all the time at work unless Im on break & eating!

I dont mind wearing as I know its protecting me & my customers.

Unfortunately Ive developed a lot of spots on my chin and the only thing that seems to help is not wearing a mask!

winetime89 · 04/11/2020 20:41

Yep mask with visor or goggles and apron. Hate it

ShakespearesSisters · 04/11/2020 20:53

Yes, I work in an opticians. Masks all day unless on lunch.

MissMarplesGlove · 04/11/2020 20:54

Yes, I do when I’m teaching. It’s no big deal and keeps us all safer

CouldBeOuting · 04/11/2020 20:57

I work in school. We are NOT allowed to wear masks.

Personally I’d prefer it if I could, especially when face to face with parents who are asked to wear a mask but only a few do... all the others are exempt or “I always forget it”.

SpeedofaSloth · 04/11/2020 20:59

Yes, except when eating/ drinking.

cariadlet · 04/11/2020 21:07

No.

I'm a primary school teacher and we've been told not to wear a mask in class or when handing over to parents at the end of the day.

I only wear one for a couple of hours a week when I have my PPA time and 3 of us from different class bubbles are working in the same fairly small room.

notyourmummy · 04/11/2020 21:25

Yes, I'm a Personal Assistant for a teenager with autism, have to wear one all the time I'm working.

manicinsomniac · 04/11/2020 21:26

Nobody actually has the right to tell you that.

We were told in Sept that there was no need to wear one. Most of didn't want to anyway. But a couple of teachers disagreed that there was no need and definitely wanted to. So they did. There's nothing anyone could do to actually stop them, they're free thinking adults.

But from Oct we then all had to wear them anyway. Not in classrooms but we can if we want to. I'm starting to wear mine more and more in the classroom when I'm very close to children.

Ffsnosexallowed · 04/11/2020 21:30

Mostly wfh just now, but wear a mask when in work (NHS management).

WanderingMilly · 04/11/2020 21:37

I work in a school. We haven't been wearing masks or any PPE and there's no social distancing or anything... Today they suddenly revised the guidelines and we have to wear masks, not in the classroom (but I don't teach) but everywhere else.
I am SO relieved, it's great news.... If they aren't going to lockdown schools again, we should be wearing masks instead....

Rosebel · 04/11/2020 22:18

I'm not at work at the moment but unless things drastically change by January then yes I will be wearing one.
Work in home shopping and currently they start at 2 in the morning and have been told they don't need to wear the masks until 6 when customers use the store.
My children have to wear masks starting on Monday. My daughter is, exempt but haven't heard anything from the school about if they will force all the children to wear masks (I hope they don't as, it will result in multiple meltdowns if they do).

Saz12 · 04/11/2020 22:49

Yes, all day if indoors, can remove if outside. Have to be at least 2m ALL the time, temperature checks on arrival, sanitize everything communal we touch. It’s a PITA but need to keep people safe.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 05/11/2020 09:19

Why on earth are teachers in the UK being told not to wear them? Thats insane!

Everyone wears them here in schools including children from age 6 - its really not causing any problems except for the parents who always cause problems anyway (the same ones who compained about school residential trips being cancelled last April)...
