To ask for help from someone who lives in Ireland?

DormerBay · 03/11/2020 18:56

I feel so silly asking this when we are all facing such big challenges at the moment, but thought maybe someone could help me out.

My son's favourite snack has been discontinued by the manufacturers. He's loved then for years, and is gutted. He has some additional needs, so changes like this are a bigger deal for him than most kids. He's eeked out his last packet but they are now all gone.

I've found a website in Ireland that says this food is still in stock. I've not found it in stock anywhere in England. I was hoping that if I got an order delivered to a MNetter in Ireland, they would be kind enough to forward the order on to me? I would cover all costs, and make a small donation to a charity as a thank you?

Is there a kind MNetter that could help?

Thank you in advance! Flowers

has anyone else had tayto popcorn?! Best popcorn I’ve ever had Yes in the blue bag little fluffy balls of perfection.
Shhh ROI are so much nicer
I think we should select UK mnetters let them taste test though judging by tasteless walkers they'd enjoy both tayto Grin

LightSwitchedOn · 04/11/2020 09:27

This thread has made me smile. We get "proper" tayto in our local coles here in Oz. None of the northern ones mind you. As a young one I worked in the north and couldn't believe mr tayto allegedly lives in a castle in tandragee. Laughed for days. My work mates thought I was mad

NerosFiddle · 04/11/2020 09:58

I'm a nordie and there's nothing as good as freestatyo with a bar of Carmelo and washed down with a glass of club lemon

ReallySpicyCurry · 04/11/2020 11:55

I'd be feared of a knock at the door if I were you, Nero. What a thing to admit Grin

EmeraldShamrock · 04/11/2020 13:14

@NerosFiddle 👏 🤣

ItsA1WayStreet · 04/11/2020 13:41

The good news is that you now have a supply.

The bad news is that it looks like Kallo have discontinued making the product - it was last listed on their website in August.

OchonAgusOchonO · 04/11/2020 14:05

Have you tried contacting Kallo directly? They might be able to point you towards suppliers.

Notimeforaname · 04/11/2020 14:21

I'm a little late to the party but I too can help out and send them opGrin

Can I just ask the other Irish folk...have any of you seen banshee bones around? Some people told me they came back for Halloween but I cant find any😭

Prunekeith · 04/11/2020 15:12

Notimeforaname · 05/11/2020 17:42

These! Although I think these are the old ones and the new ones are made by tayto now and not perri. So I'm presuming they wont taste anything like the original..but I shall live in hope until I find some !!

@Mumof3almost4

I'm so relieved you've told us what it is OP hope you get sorted!!

My favourite crisps ever are NI spring onion Tayto. Can't find them over here anywhere!!!

www.tayto.com/shop/tayto-spring-onion/

You can buy tayto direct, and ship to the uk.

Here in edinburgh, some of the Tescos, have Yellow Cheese and Onion Tayto in the World Food Aisle

and one of the pubs has the Blue Version

Ah, how lovely this post has connected some MNetters and enabled some rice cake sharing!

Update from me to follow

UPDATE

My lovely Irish MNetters who volunteered to help me out, I am sad to say our efforts have been in vain. The supplier has emailed to say no stocks left Sad. They are checking, but I fear it has been a false start.

I am so grateful for your offers of help though - pure altruism - and it warms my heart. Flowers to you all

I refuse to give up yet though, so if anyone, anywhere, has spotted these things Kallo Savoury Rice Cakes , and is in a position to either buy them for me, or let me know how to get hold of them, I would be eternally grateful. All costs reimbursed of course, and as I said before, a small donation to charity made in return.

Fingers crossed there are some, somewhere on a dusty shelf.

@Carriemac Thank you for the lead. Just trying to find out if they do in fact have some in stock/can deliver.

If they do have stock, but can't deliver, shout out to anyone near Moseley!!

I am very happy to follow multiple leads Smile

@DormerBay - Did you try phoning the shop in York? They might make an exception to their normal delivery policy and post to you.

DormerBay · 06/11/2020 12:45

@DormerBay - Did you try phoning the shop in York? They might make an exception to their normal delivery policy and post to you.

I spoke to them when they refunded me, and they confirmed they didn't deliver beyond their boundary - I assume because they do the deliveries themselves rather than post stuff out. I felt bad that I had got it wrong on their website and wasted their time by putting in an order they couldn't fulfil, so didn't pursue it Blush

I'm not very good at this!

OchonAgusOchonO · 06/11/2020 12:52

@DormerBay - seriously, try phoning and explain the situation. Ask to speak to the manager/owner. It sounds like a small shop. We have one local to us who do deliveries themselves and I know they would absolutely make an exception and post in the circumstances (they don't have the rice cakes though).
