To ask for help from someone who lives in Ireland?

I feel so silly asking this when we are all facing such big challenges at the moment, but thought maybe someone could help me out.

My son's favourite snack has been discontinued by the manufacturers. He's loved then for years, and is gutted. He has some additional needs, so changes like this are a bigger deal for him than most kids. He's eeked out his last packet but they are now all gone.

I've found a website in Ireland that says this food is still in stock. I've not found it in stock anywhere in England. I was hoping that if I got an order delivered to a MNetter in Ireland, they would be kind enough to forward the order on to me? I would cover all costs, and make a small donation to a charity as a thank you?

Is there a kind MNetter that could help?

Thank you in advance! Flowers

Tayto causes conflict. I won't go into the tasty details obviously I'm biased. Grin
Glad you got sorted OP.

If it's Icebergers they don't post well.

Well done OP. Now we know, many more might be able to help you now. All the best!

Wonder why tastes and ingredients vary so much between Ireland and UK/NI. Anyone know?

ldnirish · 03/11/2020 21:39

Feel free to pm. I'm in London but plenty of family back home who would love to help x

catnoir1 · 03/11/2020 21:44

I think I saw these in my local Holland and Barrett today @DormerBay

I can go check tomorrow for you if you'd like?

M0rT · 03/11/2020 21:45

If you want to PM me I'm in Ireland and happy to forward some on.
I have a parcel for the post office ready to be posted for the past week, so it would spur me on Smile

PippinStar · 03/11/2020 21:46

Oh I love those rice cakes. My local health food store stock them so I can get a few for you if needs be.

Moneypenny007 · 03/11/2020 21:52

I live in Ireland. If you want to pm me I'll see what I can do.
Ps tayto isn't as good as they make it out to be...

Oh my gosh! Bless you all!

I have ordered some from the Irish website to arrive with two kind MNetters who are kindly going to forward them on to me.
I am totally open to more stocks though - if I could build a big supply, both DS and I would be delighted!

I will PM those who have spotted them locally - I used to get them via subscription from H&B Blush, such is DS's addiction, but haven't seen any in an actual H&B shop for eons.

Thank you all. I am really bowled over by your kindness to go out of your way for a stranger Flowers

Oh my god @AnnieJ1985 football special from McDaids. You can only get it in plastic bottles now. It's not the same.

StinkyDora · 03/11/2020 22:08

@XFPW My great grandfather was born in Tandragee in about 1880 before the family headed to Glasgow. Sounds like I need to make a visit to my ancestral lands Smile

AnnieJ1985 · 03/11/2020 22:12

@BadEyeBri You are so right! I reckon it is missing some good E numbers too.

My sister and I have a lament about this far too regularly for fully grown women (Is that you??)

DormerBay · 03/11/2020 22:14

Wow, there's a lot of food/drink talk from Ireland here. What have I started? Grin

I'm loving the idea of the Tayto tour too!

Sorry for double posting btw. There seems to be a bit of a lag going on tonight.

I really hope this thread has resolved my rice cake quest for DS. What a generous lot you are.

Now we just have to hold our breath for America. Dare I hope that kindness will trump Trump there?

So funny that any conversation about food in Ireland always ends up in chat about taytos and purple snacks.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 03/11/2020 22:30

@dontcallmelen

My little tesco local used to have a small Irish section which included tayto crisps the day they withdrew the section, I came home & cried no other crisps can compare, I am still bitter & now only frequent the Tesco local when in absolute dire circumstances.
Are you in England? If yes, try Home Bargains if you have one nearby. Ours usually has Tayto's in.
HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 03/11/2020 22:34

Our Co-op sometimes has those, Leeds.

lurker101 · 03/11/2020 22:52

Anyone else that’s desperately missing Tayto.... you can order them directly on their website and naturally they’re the Northern version (best version ;) )

lurker101 · 03/11/2020 22:54

Oh also - on that point - has anyone else had tayto popcorn?! Best popcorn I’ve ever had 😍

PointeShoesandTutus · 04/11/2020 09:00

Apologies - I’m a mile out! Sorry! I do work in York so if you get desperate I’m happy to check the shop for you?
