To ask for help from someone who lives in Ireland?

I feel so silly asking this when we are all facing such big challenges at the moment, but thought maybe someone could help me out.

My son's favourite snack has been discontinued by the manufacturers. He's loved then for years, and is gutted. He has some additional needs, so changes like this are a bigger deal for him than most kids. He's eeked out his last packet but they are now all gone.

I've found a website in Ireland that says this food is still in stock. I've not found it in stock anywhere in England. I was hoping that if I got an order delivered to a MNetter in Ireland, they would be kind enough to forward the order on to me? I would cover all costs, and make a small donation to a charity as a thank you?

Is there a kind MNetter that could help?

Thank you in advance! Flowers

Are they very spicy noodles? Is that warm or cold...

dontcallmelen · 03/11/2020 20:27

My little tesco local used to have a small Irish section which included tayto crisps the day they withdrew the section, I came home & cried no other crisps can compare, I am still bitter & now only frequent the Tesco local when in absolute dire circumstances.

Cold, spicy noodles?! 🙂 No, not close I'm afraid.

Oh this thread makes me so proud to be Irish! We’re a lovely bunch aren’t we?

I might need to start a thread like this - I have run out of my supply of Jacob’s dark chocolate rice cakes and staying close to home right now so no plans to head over the border. No other brands even come close and the Jacobs ones aren’t sold up north. 😭

I have a big shout out to Waterford Harvey Norman who were similarly lovely to me this weekend. My 3 DDs all chose some new bedding from Harvey Norman for our new house, but when we went in to buy them, one of them wasn’t available. It also wasn’t available anywhere online other than Harveynorman.ie who don’t ship outside of the republic. I was told that the only store with stock was Waterford, but they also don’t ship to stores or addresses outside of the republic. I made a call in a desperate attempt to make my DD happy. I really didn’t expect them to be able to do anything, but they immediately said they would send it to me and didn’t even charge postage!

I had no idea these Tayto Crisps evoked such strong emotions. I feel I have been missing out!

@DormerBay best crisps in the world - and definitely the nordy ones!

You can take a tour of the Tayto factory and taste crisps hot off the machine. You also come away with armfuls of bags of crisps. It’s a great day out in Tandragee!

I feel I have been missing out! You definitely have!

I'm baffled as to what it could be.

Zixxy · 03/11/2020 20:45

OP has us all bewildered. Get on with it love and tell us what you want. This kind of secrecy about a product is very annoying where many could help you out.

But that is the premise of your thread I suppose. Unless it is drugs or explosives or other illegal stuff, just tell us.

But you won't. Not impressed, it couldn't be that much of a secret!

OchonAgusOchonO · 03/11/2020 20:47

I've never had Nordie Taytos. I need to get some so I can do a taste test. Can't imagine they'd be better than proper southern ones

Heyahun · 03/11/2020 20:48

I was thinking you needed purple snack bars

Omg I can't get them anywhere in London - I think about them daily at the moment ! My mum sent a few packs recently but have just run out!

OchonAgusOchonO · 03/11/2020 20:51

@XFPW - if you want some Jacob’s dark chocolate rice cakes, I'm happy to send you on some. Although I'm not sure how well they would survive the postal system....

I currently have 2 smallish empty boxes and one enormous one from deliveries today so could try and pack safely in one of them.

The larger Asdas have Tayto in the 'World Food' isle. Always makes me laugh.

Anoisagusaris · 03/11/2020 20:52

I can help too. Live in ROI but I can post them from a NI post office so you get them quicker. If it’s something that can be bought in a shop, I’m happy just to buy them and send them on.

Ah @Zixxy, don’t be mean. She just doesn’t want to be outed, which is fair enough.

Is it red lemonade? Grin

And in case the OP doesn’t need my help, can someone tell me what it is, pretty please.

The larger Asdas have Tayto sometimes in the 'World Food' isle, which always makes me laugh. Covid has foiled our usual stocking up on trips to Ireland.

missmouse101 · 03/11/2020 20:58

Is it those fab marshmallow biscuits? I used to work with the best Irish girl whose parents would send them over. Can't remember their name though!
