To ask for help from someone who lives in Ireland?

I feel so silly asking this when we are all facing such big challenges at the moment, but thought maybe someone could help me out.

My son's favourite snack has been discontinued by the manufacturers. He's loved then for years, and is gutted. He has some additional needs, so changes like this are a bigger deal for him than most kids. He's eeked out his last packet but they are now all gone.

I've found a website in Ireland that says this food is still in stock. I've not found it in stock anywhere in England. I was hoping that if I got an order delivered to a MNetter in Ireland, they would be kind enough to forward the order on to me? I would cover all costs, and make a small donation to a charity as a thank you?

Is there a kind MNetter that could help?

Thank you in advance! Flowers

Not nougat, not crisps.

I'll be giving clues at this rate!

Oh I don’t, but annoyingmy pre-Covid went there LOADS!

Zixxy · 03/11/2020 19:41

Red, you are so funny ( and right too lol). Hope OP gets her mysterious product anyway.

eggandonion · 03/11/2020 19:43

Some class of chip shop curry mix? Erin hot cup soup? Veda bread?
Ormo jam Paris buns, do they still exist in the north?

Zixxy · 03/11/2020 19:44

Right OP, give us a hint. It will keep us going until we find out about the Orange One across the Pond at least.

ReallySpicyCurry · 03/11/2020 19:46

If it's postable I reckon it'll have a longer shelf life.

Something to do with Dairy Milk? I know they had the proper stuff down south after they ruined it everywhere else. Bloke my dad worked with brought him a box up and dad nearly cried with joy ("the milk, I can taste the milk again")

LightThatFire · 03/11/2020 19:50

I’m in NW England and during the last lockdown I managed to get Tayto crisps from Morrisons. Very nice they were too.

ReallySpicyCurry · 03/11/2020 19:51

Attagirl @LightThatFire but were they north or south Tayto Grin

AnnieJ1985 · 03/11/2020 19:51

Is it Football Special?

actiongirl1978 · 03/11/2020 19:55

@ReallySpicyCurry they've killed the Irish dairy milk now too. We used to bring boxes of the stuff back, then they changed the wrappers, then they put palm oil in it. Feckers.

Our pre Xmas trip used to consist of buying marrow fat peas, taytos, dairy milk and club orange once through security at the airport.

OchonAgusOchonO · 03/11/2020 19:57

I'm more than happy to send on too.

If there's a limit of 4 items per order and you want to order multiples, it might make sense to have a few people living reasonably close to one another bung it all into one package for forwarding on to you as postage can be quite expensive. I would be happy to co-ordinate if you have a few others in the same area buying for you.

Zixxy · 03/11/2020 19:58

No further news on the product. I won't be begging to know now either.

Great OP though, well done, you have kept us guessing. I do hope you get what you are looking for, and if anyone can do it for you we will.

courtwood · 03/11/2020 20:01

I can send on the item too, pm details to me anytime

Mylittlepony374 · 03/11/2020 20:01

Another to help here if needed. Also very nosey and bothered that I'll probably never know what it is...😂

TimeIhadaNameChange · 03/11/2020 20:01

Not in Ireland but have Irish ancestry. Can I be told what it is you're after, pretty please??? (Not nosy, just academically curious! 🤣)

BathTubGin · 03/11/2020 20:02

I live within 7 miles of York- which side?

LightThatFire · 03/11/2020 20:03

@ReallySpicyCurry

😀

They were a cheese & onion multipack in yellow packaging.
But how do you tell whether N or S?
My Irish boss had been talking about them and coincidentally a few weeks later they turned up in Morrison’s.
See - something positive about lockdown!

ReallySpicyCurry · 03/11/2020 20:08

Aha, sounds like the Northern Tayto. You lucky thing.

RIP dairy milk forever though Sad

PointeShoesandTutus · 03/11/2020 20:09

I’m just south of York!

IrishMamaMia · 03/11/2020 20:10

Marrow fat peas @actiongirl1978 literally my childhood in a vegetable Grin

DormerBay · 03/11/2020 20:12

Sorry, just sorting tea.

No one is close yet. Nothing chocolate-like, or crisps.

I've learned lots about the differences in foodstuffs across the borders though!

Three other people on the thread know the snack as I have PM-ed them a link. I'm just going to check my messages now.

Thank you so much for your interest and humour! I will update later.
