What's your claim to fame? *lighthearted*

Inspired by an article I've just read online whilst waiting for my train, AIBU to ask...what is your claim to fame? The weaker the claim the funnier, such as "I dated Margaret Thatcher's cousins drama tutor" e.g. But any will do.

I'll go first. I served Gary Cahill (footballer) once as a waitress; he came into the budget restaurant I worked at...and didn't even foot the bill!

A bit of a silly post I know, but the article I read had me giggling. If this post makes at least one person giggle that would be great Grin - I think we're all in need of a laugh right now!

I was on a 'Drink a Pint a Milk a Day' billboard ad in the 1960s

My Dad was one of James May's (Top Gear) teachers at secondary school.

I sang The Ballad of Tom Jones with Space at a few of their gigs and Tony Blair used to ring our house when I was little. I think he got our number and Gordon Brown's mixed up. Kim Howells MP was another mate of Dad's. And Leighton Baines, one of my favourite Everton players, was doing a Q&A on Twitter and he answered my question. I was over the moon.

I was at school with the girl who played John Nettles' daughter Cully in Midsomer Murders. Respect.

I sat beside an Irish professional football player for a year when we were both in primary school. (Bet you won't know who he is) Paul McShane.

When I was about 11 I was asked to stand out the pop star Sonia's dressing room to stop anyone going in there while she changed. I have no idea how I would have prevented them but my dad was in charge of security and didn't have any female staff so thought I would do!

SakiSiam · 03/11/2020 22:09

Having a bet with Les Dennis' son (1980s) in a bar about how much Bernie Winter's dog weighed (was also in the bar). He won.

Also, my law tutor, at technical collage, in Huddersfield, who was also heads of Leeds council, appeared in various soaps. And, again; one of the ushers at my (first) wedding appeared in the film, 'The Birth of the Beatles'.

I met the Chelsea football team as a child & got their autographs,

Randomly walked past Todd Carty (mark fowler from EastEnders) in the town I live in when he was doing pants there about 9 years ago,

I've seen Prince Harry, Prince William & Kate Middleton in my local co-op, (the first one was quite a few years ago, other two several times in the past couple of years)

The Queen visited my primary school when I was a child.

Can't think of anymore atm, but I'm sure there are more that will come to me.

IndieTara · 03/11/2020 22:17

I used to work with Sharon Osborne's cousin.
I was once in the local newspaper dressed as an Indian squaw

A relative of mine was the prosecution barrister in the 1960s trial of Jagger Wyman and Richards for urinating in a public place!

SakiSiam · 03/11/2020 22:22

Also saw Marti Caine with no clothes on. She died far too young, wish she was still around.

Sat next to Robert Davi in Harrods at the ice cream counter. He had mint choc chip ice cream and chatted away to my mum, brother and I. People were coming up to him asking for autographs and looking at us to see if we were famous too 😂😂

RuthTopp · 03/11/2020 22:34

My mum has sat at the same table as Julian Clary.
His parents live in the same town as her and he attended a ' do ' with them when he was visiting.
