What's your claim to fame? *lighthearted*

Inspired by an article I've just read online whilst waiting for my train, AIBU to ask...what is your claim to fame? The weaker the claim the funnier, such as "I dated Margaret Thatcher's cousins drama tutor" e.g. But any will do.

I'll go first. I served Gary Cahill (footballer) once as a waitress; he came into the budget restaurant I worked at...and didn't even foot the bill!

A bit of a silly post I know, but the article I read had me giggling. If this post makes at least one person giggle that would be great Grin - I think we're all in need of a laugh right now!

@ImNotWhoYouThinkIam we clearly come from the same town as I and my daughter were both born in the same hospital as Kate Middleton, and I went to the same school as and had the same dentist as Kate winslet!

However my claim to fame is that my neon pink backpack and two inches of my back were once on bbc news when I went to some Schools conference thing in sixth form 😂

AriesTheRam · 03/11/2020 18:54

Also my dad used to work with Brian Blesseds brother

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 03/11/2020 18:54

I used to care for a lovely Gentleman whose brother was obstetrician to the Queen. He was very proud of him.

My sons teacher was on Come Dine With Me.

I was on the local news with my drama group.

My laugh was used as a soundbite on local radio.

lostinabook · 03/11/2020 18:54

Me too but in 2000!

vampirethriller · 03/11/2020 18:55

I used to live with a man who was in an episode of Soldier Soldier as a baby Robson and Jerome walked past.
And I was once in a restaurant that Bill Bailey came into to pick up takeaway.

My husband was behind Jeremy Paxman at a breakfast buffet once. There was one sausage left. Paxman told my husband he could have that last sausage and would have some bacon instead.

Its a very boring 'fact' as everyone here was born there Grin. But I do know one person who uses this as the reason her and her dc are special Grin

I went to college with Tom Hiddleston (Loki in The Avengers). Which is to say we went to the same college and were in the same year. And he briefly went out with a friend of mine. Although he wouldn’t know me from Adam so as a claim to fame it’s limited...

GivenchyDahhling · 03/11/2020 18:57

Oh and I used to work with a girl whose brother was best friends with Harry Kane.

CatRamsey · 03/11/2020 18:58

I was in the audience at Eurovision 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2018 one of the hosts went live right by me me but everyone pushed in front so you can just see my wrist (and my tattoo) flailing about on TV. I'm actually glad I wasn't seen as I was so wasted!

Wacadu · 03/11/2020 18:59

My kids patted Sean Connery's brother's dogs! Grin

Livedandlearned · 03/11/2020 18:59

My auntie is friends with Little and Large.

I'm pretty jealous of @LoseLooseLucy

Our postman told my Mum that he had seen Jack Charlton's son peeing out of his bedroom window into the garden. He wasn't impressed.

For reference - Jack Charlton lived on our estate so we shared a postman. This was before film star wages for footballers. He and we lived in normal houses, not mansions. Billy Bremner also lived on the same estate. Although he had a swimming pool in his garden. It was a 3 bed semi with a fairly small garden in Leeds... Long since filled in!

Ben Fogle sat down next to me in Topshop Oxford Street whilst waiting for his then girlfriend Vanessa from big brother to try on cowboy boots.

ReginaaPhalange · 03/11/2020 19:01

My dad is friends with clem Burke (widely known more as the drummer from blondie).

Saw them in 2018 and got backstage passes. Blondie aka debbie Harry didn't come to meet all those there because "she only meets HER fans"..! Charming!

Been in the audience of CD:UK a fair few times. On one particular Snow Patrol performance I’m very visible, dancing away! I’m stood next to Cat Deely (who is so petite in real life - she stood on a box!) I’m also in the crowd for the Swedish House Mafia video for Dont you Worry Child.

After above CD:UK performance I happened to run into Snow Patrol in the cafe and we went to say hello - the lead singer was pretty blatantly checking out my cousin lol literally gazing at her up and down!

I also met and hung out with a foreign band in their home country. They were the biggest band in the country and a huge deal at the time, it was great fun!

My cousin used to model in her teen years and I tagged along to a photo shoot of hers with (then unknown) Danny O’Donoghue from The Script when he was in a terrible boyband called Mytown lol. When he became famous with The Script I had an OMG moment when I remembered I’d met him years before!

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 03/11/2020 19:02

I have a connection to Michael Jackson.

I know someone who knows someone, who's mate's mate shagged Calum Best... who once met Michael Jackson

🤣

janeymacaronie · 03/11/2020 19:03

My daughter was in the same primary school class as one of Sarah Palin's daughters.

FannysSteadiedBuffs · 03/11/2020 19:05

Another one born in the RBH. And we had the morning off school to watch Princess Anne open the Bejam in the precinct.

I've shared a lift with Max Beesley the actor.

MorvaanReed · 03/11/2020 19:05

My dad worked with the father of one of the Rolling Stones, but I don't remember which one.

AdriannaP · 03/11/2020 19:06

My cousin was a nanny to Dodi Fayes’s younger siblings. She watched Diana and Charles’s wedding in the Fayed mansion together with other staff members.

AdriannaP · 03/11/2020 19:06

Dodi Fayed of course

SassenachWitch · 03/11/2020 19:06

I used to fetch fish n chips for Noddy Holders elderly mother, in exchange for a 2 finger Kit-Kat.

Angeldust747 · 03/11/2020 19:07

My cousin used to be married to Usain bolt's cousin

NetflixWatcher · 03/11/2020 19:07
