What's your claim to fame? *lighthearted*

Inspired by an article I've just read online whilst waiting for my train, AIBU to ask...what is your claim to fame? The weaker the claim the funnier, such as "I dated Margaret Thatcher's cousins drama tutor" e.g. But any will do.

I'll go first. I served Gary Cahill (footballer) once as a waitress; he came into the budget restaurant I worked at...and didn't even foot the bill!

A bit of a silly post I know, but the article I read had me giggling. If this post makes at least one person giggle that would be great Grin - I think we're all in need of a laugh right now!

I have three!
When I was 10 I won Ken Dodd's 'tickle stick' signed by him in person, in a raffle at the old people's home my mum worked at 😂
I once saw the actor who plays Gary Windass from Corrie in a pub and whooped 😳🤣
I have spoken in person to Jimmy Carr ...because I was at his stand up. And he talks to anyone who will line up afterwards to get their programme signed 😆
Anyone want my autograph?

I "played out" with Ant from Ant and Dec when I was at a friend's house in year 7.

I was on a Catholic youth council run my Dec's priest brother.

One of my friends starred in the 80s kids TV series supergran. Nobody ever remembers it, but it was brilliant (as far as I remember)

I met Princess Margaret on a Brownies and Guides activity day. She was very nice (and didn't notice that I'd spilt my lunch down my uniform Blush)

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 03/11/2020 22:37

I went to sixth form with a guy who went on to play football for England in the world cup. I was so horrendously rude to him once that I am forever grateful he has now retired, and I don't have to remember how awful I was to him.

When i was little my aunty was friends with Christopher Biggins. We went to pick him up from a show to give him a lift to his mums who lived next door but one. He completely ignored me and my cousin on the journey! He sat in the front and we in the back of the car so not on a bus or coach.

wwud12 · 03/11/2020 22:41

@jajabanks Mr Wigglesworth was my head of year. Small world...

WingingItSince1973 · 03/11/2020 22:42

Oh and I also received an award from the Queen mum when I was 11 years old 🤣 She was very sweet x

UpHereforDancng · 03/11/2020 22:43

I was arrested, along with a friend, at 14 years old for painting the name of a famous band in six foot high letters on the AthenaB tanker the night after it was stranded on the beach opposite our house.

We were also wearing just fake fur coats over underwear for a laugh. When my mum came to pick me up from the cells later that night the policeman told her off as she couldn't stop laughing about it!

I went on to lead a quite conservative life...

I'm looking forward to reading all these when I get in bed later! Thanks to everyone for your responses - I hope it's got a lot of smiles and laughter out of you Grin

I taught an X factor winner.

SuzieBishop · 03/11/2020 22:50

I was in a flight from Luton to Aberdeen with Mark Wright from TOWIE years ago.

Met Jedward at a night club once.

Whenwilligrowup · 03/11/2020 22:50

Oh I have more ! I used to be friends with someone who went to school with Robert Webb 😲
One of the actors from Stranger Things is from my hometown.
And I once 'starred' in a dvd that was used by the fire and rescue service 🤣

TheSpottedZebra · 03/11/2020 22:51

My granny found an escaped budgie in her garden, and Geoff Capes came round to rescue it.
He was very nice apparently.

MsAwesomeDragon Supergran was EXCELLENT!
Did your friend go on to have a career in acting?

Kljnmw3459 · 03/11/2020 22:58

A friend of mine got a kiss from Steven Tyler.

OddHoleySocks · 03/11/2020 22:58

I'm not sure which to pick.

I was in a car that had to brake to avoid hitting the actor that played Lofty in Eastenders when he dashed across the road

I once served Winnie Ewing in a shop (you'd have to be of a certain age AND Scottish or interested in politics in the 80s/90s to know who she was)

My ex once nodded hello to Rolf Harris before we found out what he was guilty of

Kljnmw3459 · 03/11/2020 23:02

I walked past a set of Midsomer Murders when they were filming in a location close to my sister's apartment.

WingingItSince1973 · 03/11/2020 23:04

Sorry one more 🤣 My dd recently had drinks with Kris Marshall and some other friends. He goes to the pub she used to work in. She said he was just as nice as he is on TV. Oh and another our family business was featured in Amazing Spaces by George Clarke but he never came to our workshop himself which really annoyed me as I was a huge fan at the time and he usually visits everyone!

mineofuselessinformation · 03/11/2020 23:07

I was on a regional political programme on the telly about teaching.
Greville Starkey (a once-famous jockey) bought me a drink years back when he frequented a restaurant I worked in.
I taught Dina Carroll's little brother, and Bryan Adam's niece and nephew.

HubbabubbaT · 03/11/2020 23:08

My secondary school art teacher used to live next to a property that Elton John used to live in.

WizzyWanta · 03/11/2020 23:09

I've had a few friends sleep with Ryan Giggs (Lucky escape by all accounts)!
Served a takeaway pizza to Pat from EastEnders and .....
Shaken Worzel Gummidge's hand!
Do I win? Grin

ilovepixie · 03/11/2020 23:09

I won a green cross code competition in primary school. My prize which was an autograph book was presented by the green cross code man! AKA Darth Vader!
