What's your claim to fame? *lighthearted*

Inspired by an article I've just read online whilst waiting for my train, AIBU to ask...what is your claim to fame? The weaker the claim the funnier, such as "I dated Margaret Thatcher's cousins drama tutor" e.g. But any will do.

I'll go first. I served Gary Cahill (footballer) once as a waitress; he came into the budget restaurant I worked at...and didn't even foot the bill!

A bit of a silly post I know, but the article I read had me giggling. If this post makes at least one person giggle that would be great Grin - I think we're all in need of a laugh right now!

My step-sister's husband's cousin is Lionel Blair.

My sister had a run in with Jeremy Clarkson when she was working front of house in the theatre.

My late mother-in-law regularly used to have afternoon tea with the mother of Jonny Greenwood (of Radiohead fame).

Another couple I have remembered ,when I was a student at Salford in the 90,s Dr Chris Steele ( This morning ) was playing in a band in a pub we used to go to ,Dr Chris was in the audience watching him ,it wasn't a big pub so not much of an audience 😂
Again as a student Morrisey walked past us as we were waiting for a taxi after coming out of a coming out of a nightclub at about 2am

Ooh I've got a topical one: I sat behind Sean Connery in a theatre once. It was some fringe thing and a bit intellectual and he spent the whole time explaining it/translating it for his wife.

x2boys · 08/11/2020 11:48

Dr Chris Steele,s son**

HitchikersGuide · 08/11/2020 11:49

Oh and I've danced next to (note not with😂) Shane McGowan (The Pogues).

I once had to ask Bob Monkhouse to move out of my way - he was signing books in my local WHSmith and was positioned right in front of the paper clips I wanted to buy. His face fell when he realised I didn’t want a book or an autograph.

Lisa from Steps was at the airport check in desk with her family at the same time as me. Her kids were quite small and running riot, one stepped right in front of me and I accidentally ran over his foot with my heavy luggage trolley.

My best friend's son used to be a famous TV actor in a very popular long standing medical drama

joystir59 · 08/11/2020 12:02

And my brother in law is Simon Le Bon's plumber

HoomanMoomin · 08/11/2020 12:02

No. My brother and a lot of other extras were Russian speaking. Presumably because they were looking for “Russian looks”..?

joystir59 · 08/11/2020 12:03

Another very good friend is author Andrea Levy's sister

CounsellorTroi · 08/11/2020 12:08

Had a chat with John Humphrys in a queue for passport control once.

CounsellorTroi · 08/11/2020 12:12

Also saw Monty Don in BA lounge, and when sitting outside a cafe at our destination saw him walking past with his wife.

Imapotato · 08/11/2020 12:28

Mine are pretty tenuous.

When I was about 13 my friend and I were sitting on a local river bank, a film crew arrived and the woman presenting (I have no idea who it was) came over and told us to stop making so much noise. When the programme aired you could see us sitting in the background.

The next, which is even less impressive is that I sat on a table next to Steve Speirs (from upstart crow) and his family while having lunch outside the natural history museum.

And finally Chris Akabusie cane to Visit our primary school. He bent over to show us the starting sprint position and farted really loudly! Hilarious when you’re 9!

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 08/11/2020 13:36

I’ve been on tv doing carol singing when I was at primary school

I gave my opinions on radio 1s lunch time news once via phone call

Salamander91 · 08/11/2020 14:54

One of my primary school teachers is Sarah Hadlands mum.

LePimpernelScarlette · 08/11/2020 15:14

Roy Castle’s mother in law used to babysit for me (she was lovely).

I once sold a pack of red candles to Roger Moore.

I have had a dance with Jeff Banks while listening to ‘Scouting for Girls.

A guy on my course at uni ended up marrying Kate Winslet.

My Godmother was once interviewed on Songs of Praise and was on the Antiques Roadshow in a very famous clip.

I also ran a circuit of the school field with Kris Akabusi (he strolled I ran as fast as my little unfit legs could) we raised money to send him to the Olympics - something to do with Weetabix.

Bubbletrouble43 · 08/11/2020 16:30

My best mate went to a dinner party and Alison Steadman was there.

SaintJimmy · 08/11/2020 17:10

An ex boyfriend's dad used to deliver coal to Curt Smith, of Tears for Fears fame

JJsDinerWaffles · 08/11/2020 17:14

My Dad used to have the same hairdresser as Peter Kay.

TwylaSands · 08/11/2020 17:36

I got over a thousand reactions in a matter of hours to a comment on a jason manford facebook post once. Not likes. Lots of people didnt like being criticised for the use of the phrase ‘Making memories’ when doing very mundane things Grin

Oooo and last week lou ferrigno’s daughter liked a comment i made on his page.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/11/2020 17:53

John Lennon's sister taught us French at high school.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/11/2020 17:55

I once fb messaged a favourite American author to ask if they'd named an obscure cult in one of their books after what it could directly be translated into if you assumed the words were Welsh.

She replied. She had. But didn't use the Welsh pronunciation.

BayandBlonde · 08/11/2020 17:56

I live next door to Ron Wesley's dad

BayandBlonde · 08/11/2020 17:57
