What's your claim to fame? *lighthearted*

Inspired by an article I've just read online whilst waiting for my train, AIBU to ask...what is your claim to fame? The weaker the claim the funnier, such as "I dated Margaret Thatcher's cousins drama tutor" e.g. But any will do.

I'll go first. I served Gary Cahill (footballer) once as a waitress; he came into the budget restaurant I worked at...and didn't even foot the bill!

A bit of a silly post I know, but the article I read had me giggling. If this post makes at least one person giggle that would be great Grin - I think we're all in need of a laugh right now!

I've been on local
News and on BBC's Hospital. When I looked after a patient they were following.

My brother was extra in Anna Karenina film with Keira Knightley. He was in the shot for a whole 3 seconds.
Also, my 5YO DD’s best friend is a distant relative of Millie Bobby Brown. I don’t know whether they’ve ever met.

I have a Margaret Thatcher one, my friend’s neighbour’s nappy was changed by her!

Yesterday I received a slightly pervy message on online dating from someone who used to go out with a celebrity and smoke crack.

wrigglepigg · 08/11/2020 06:23

My cousin is Tom Hardys best friend.

Ligglepiggle · 08/11/2020 06:33

I went on Live & Kicking as a teenager for a mini show I guess you could call it based on a popular tv show at the time - my mum still has the tape with the recording. I let DH watch it one time while I went and hid in another room - it makes me die a little bit inside everytime that tape is dragged out.

Bubbletrouble43 · 08/11/2020 09:53

@HoomanMoomin that's not Carl is it? I went to college with a guy called Carl and spotted him in Anna Karenina

I've accidently walk.ed into into Noel Gallagher - he just scowled at me and I've had a drink with Richard Gears son.

My aunt was in the same class as Steve Davis (snooker player) I then went to the same school a few years later

I once answered (and had a chat with) an incoming phone call in a shared student household from Denis Waterman at the height of the TV series The Sweeney in the mid to late 1970s.
Dennis wanted to speak to one of the episode script writers of the series whose surname was/is Sutherland but I can’t remember his first name, who was staying in the house temporarily.

I have a few, but the most recent is that my two exBILs won the jackpot on Pointless. My DS is a bit obsessed with Pointless and we watch it every night, and them being on was a complete surprise!

I’ve met Johnny Morris and Dotty, the ring tailed lemur.

I used to own a real Morph but it melted a bit on my windowsill.

My Nana's closest friends son is a semi famous actor who has worked with Johnny Depp, Robbie Coltrane and Meryl Streep (on different occasions, not all together)

I was in a Mongolian restaurant in Dublin when George RR Martin came in to eat

Me and my sisters are on the front cover of the Blossoms love album.

My husband's great-uncle is Anthony Burgess, who wrote A Clockwork Orange

I stayed at the same hotel as The Foo Fighters in Dublin. Saw the guitarist at the bar

You can see me in the front row of Slash's rendition of Sweet Child of Mine at Glastonbury on YouTube.

As a teenager in the 90s, my best friend's cousin's best friend was dating Shane Lynch of Boyzone's cousin. We were nearly hysterical with excitement when we found this out.

I met paul and Barry chuckle when I was 4. Paul asked me to kiss him on the cheek and I refused

JanewaysBun · 08/11/2020 11:35

No wait
*Barry asked me to kiss him

EllieFredrickson · 08/11/2020 11:35

Kind of topical. My DH was at university with Jon Sopel when he was President of the student's Union.

JanewaysBun · 08/11/2020 11:36

Also my grandad's doctor's brother was on a comedy show In the 50s

TheFormidableMrsC · 08/11/2020 11:38

I've had dinner with Simon Le Bon.
