What's your claim to fame? *lighthearted*

Inspired by an article I've just read online whilst waiting for my train, AIBU to ask...what is your claim to fame? The weaker the claim the funnier, such as "I dated Margaret Thatcher's cousins drama tutor" e.g. But any will do.

I'll go first. I served Gary Cahill (footballer) once as a waitress; he came into the budget restaurant I worked at...and didn't even foot the bill!

A bit of a silly post I know, but the article I read had me giggling. If this post makes at least one person giggle that would be great Grin - I think we're all in need of a laugh right now!

Ive met lots of 80's politicians who also came in a few times.

I walked into Richard E Grant, he's very tall and slim.

I've met Micheal J Fox in his Back to the Future days.

I've been to wedding where Orlando Bloom was also a guest.

My uncle went to school with Rowan Atkinson.

My cousin's went to school with many famous England rudgy players who also came to their weddings and I've met them a few times since.

I'm related to a person who went on love island and is still very well known.

My sister showed Lenny Henry where the jelly was when worked in Sainsburys.

Tobebythesea · 06/11/2020 07:57

I was talking about a LOTR film with a friend and then turned a corner and walked past Orlando Bloom standing next to a bus stop. We just looked at each other with our mouths open.

My mate used to have Saddam Hussein's favourite sofa in her house (landlord used to work for him; probably best not to inquire too much into in what capacity Hmm).

So I've sat on, & spilled wine on, the Saddam Sofa...

I have drank with the New York Mafia, several times.
Billy Connolly lived downstairs from my Gran.
I was at Daniel O'Donnell's wife's first wedding ( I used to work with her)
Jimmy Saville patted my daughter's head ( she was never left alone with him).
I nearly got run over by the Queen Mother.

I came down the escalator at Ascot racecourse but someone was standing right at the bottom, getting in my way. So I elbowed them out of my, I mean, seriously, who blocks the bottom of an escalator? Princess Anne, that's who. Doing a photoshoot.

Oh and my ex boyfriend worked on a building site with Kevin Webster's dad off Corrie. That was years back obviously.

x2boys · 06/11/2020 09:22

Former best friend's friend's mother owned the horse that Legolas rode into the paths of the dead.

My third cousin twice removed was Nelson Mandela's best man.

I was on Mastermind!!

In the audience, in the front row. I expect you know they used to film 2 at the same venue same night, but they made the audience behind the contestants change completely, so my Dad said 'Quick, go and grab a seat on the front row' - and I did.

EggysMom · 06/11/2020 10:43

I was at secondary school with the actress Nina Sosanya. Not just the same year, but the same form (W) in the same year. We didn't mix much - she was athletic, I was a geek. I'm really proud of what she's done since Smile whereas I'm just average.

STOP THE COUNT!

My placenta was featured in a TV documentary for a very small cable channel about making placentas into edible capsules (I said they were welcome to keep both the placenta and the capsules).

MrsAvocet · 06/11/2020 12:46

My nephew's legs were in an episode of Casualty.

keeprocking · 06/11/2020 12:47

I did an interview with a member of the England 1966 World Cup team. In later years I wrote a sport column in a 'national' newspaper and used to be interviewed by the local radio about our sport, I refused to do TV interviews though.

cleanasawhistle · 06/11/2020 13:30

I used to walk past Christopher Quintens flat to get to primary school.

I went to the same secondry school as Caroline Aherne and Paula Wilcox......at a different time.

My son used to be well known in the local area and used to get asked for his autograph.
His name appears on an Xbox game .
A good friend of his is the brother of a very well known TV presenter.

My youngest son has a card game character named after him.

Charliecatpaws · 06/11/2020 13:57

I work in the building where the series The Call Centre was based and filmed (with Nev Wiltshire and Hayley the tea lady) obviously I’m currently working from home at the moment 😁

Glamflimfloogety · 06/11/2020 14:00

When I worked at Heathrow, I once sold Paris Hilton a video camera... And managed to mention it had a night vision mode 🤭

To this day at job interviews I struggle not to say this when asked my biggest achievement!

mogtheexcellent · 06/11/2020 14:06

AhoyMeFarties · 06/11/2020 15:07

He looked very grumpy

sueelleker · 06/11/2020 16:49

I worked with someone who played an orc in Lord Of The Rings. And I appeared on telly when Five O'Clock Club filmed an episode on the pier in Brighton (They used our primary school class as audience)
