What's your claim to fame? *lighthearted*

Inspired by an article I've just read online whilst waiting for my train, AIBU to ask...what is your claim to fame? The weaker the claim the funnier, such as "I dated Margaret Thatcher's cousins drama tutor" e.g. But any will do.

I'll go first. I served Gary Cahill (footballer) once as a waitress; he came into the budget restaurant I worked at...and didn't even foot the bill!

A bit of a silly post I know, but the article I read had me giggling. If this post makes at least one person giggle that would be great Grin - I think we're all in need of a laugh right now!

My OH was chatted up by Michael Barrymore on Twitter!

Yellownotblue · 03/11/2020 23:13

I had a cameo in a daytime tv show in Canada

ArranBound · 03/11/2020 23:14

I went to school with Vic Reeves' first wife.

ilovepixie · 03/11/2020 23:15

Got kissed by Kevin Bacon when I was 13! I went to school with his cousin, he was at her 13th birthday party, it was fancy dress and I went as a punk. I won and he presented my prize and gave me a kiss on the cheek!

Jack Dee told me to piss off in a cafe when I asked him to sign my paper napkin.

My Dad sold a caravan to Richard Kiel who was the actor who played Jaws in the James Bond films

I was an extra in Casualty. I was there 9 hours and I was a patient in the end bed and when I saw the episode, the camera cut off just before it got to me, although my elbow made it on screen.

TartanDMs · 03/11/2020 23:18

@TheSpottedZebra I used to have Geoff Capes phone number in my mobile (he was patron of a charity I worked for) and he is a really nice chap.

firstevernamechange · 03/11/2020 23:19

My ex boyfriend was an extra in the first Harry Potter movie. He was dining in the great hall.
I once was in the audience of the Wright Stuff and got to speak.

TheSpottedZebra · 03/11/2020 23:21

Was it a budgie charity, Tartan ? Grin I understand he is very active in the budgie world.
Really, my granny never said anything nice about anyone, but she was nice about him, so he must have been a saint.

kirktonhouse · 03/11/2020 23:23

I almost ran over John Barnes foot at the National Sports Centre when we'd got lost and accidently drove up the footpath. It was early 90's when he was playing for England.

LadyCatStark · 03/11/2020 23:24

I was on Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares as a waitress when I was a student.

DS was on TV in the audience clear as anything for the X factor and so was my shoulder...

DH used to work with Harry Styles’ mum.

Carrotcakefiend · 03/11/2020 23:25

Years ago I dated the guy from Hot Fuzz who's birthday is on 22nd February Blush

DENMAN03 · 03/11/2020 23:28

We were sat in a restaurant in Johannesburg when we spotted Chris Eubank. He heard us say his name so came over and asked if he could join us. We couldn't get rid of him! An hour and half later and he had us smelling his women's perfume he wore, playfully punched my BIL on the arm and was very open and emotional about the Watson fight.

EatTheHamTina · 03/11/2020 23:28

I know a few bands. Mainly rock bands.
I sat and chatted to Terry Wogan for about 20 minutes. He was such a lovely guy.
I also met the lady who used to do come outside. Not sure of her name! Blush oh and at the same time not sure if his name either but the man who had a bald head and used to be on dragons den. This was at the BBC studios also met Sean Lock there and he is hilarious.

I've also been in a few bands videos!

I was born on the same day in the same ward as Alan Carr, our mothers were in opposite beds and became friends and I used to play with him as a baby.

I nearly ran over Noddy from Byker Grove when he stepped into the road without looking.

I once saw Jamie Redknapp using a phone box (years ago).

I’ve got more impressive encounters but those are some of the sillier ones.

m3w3 · 03/11/2020 23:34

I was in a video for Torvill and deans 30th Bolero Anniversary

m3w3 · 03/11/2020 23:35

Also, my mums friend dated Peter Kay as a teen

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 03/11/2020 23:37

I once made the nation laugh on the Chris Moyles show on Radio One Smile

This was circa 2008 when Carrie the sports reporter was reporting live from Wimbledon. Her ex boyfriend was also doing a news report for a tv station and Moyles & Co were thinking up ideas to put him off his stride.

I texted in that Carrie should shout over his live broadcast that 'we were not on a break' a la friends. And she did, and it was hilarious (at the time) poor Dom Byrne couldn't speak for the tears.

Alas, my comedy peaked on that day, 12 yrs later and I'm still proud though!

Luckyrabbitfoot · 03/11/2020 23:38

I accidentally tripped Jeremy Spake of Airport fame outside of a Waterstones when I was about 11. He called me a ‘fucking twat’Grin

I LOVE Chris Eubank!
Bigbluefence · 03/11/2020 23:55

I broke my arm as a kid (fell off my roller boots, bloody lethal things!!), and Noel Edmonds signed my pot.

I had my photo taken with David Wilkie (70's/80's Olympic swimmer) at a swimming gala when I was 10

The green cross code man presented my cycling proficiency certificate at school

My mum used to deliver meals on wheels to Jimmy Savilles mum

LadyCatStark · 03/11/2020 23:56

Ooh I have another, I once went out for dinner (as part of a group) with Guy Martin. Some of the group pretended it was his birthday and the restaurant brought out free shots and we all sang happy birthday... everyone else thought it was hilarious but I didn’t really get it...

WhenPushComesToShove · 04/11/2020 00:05

My brother used to play with Pattie Boyd's younger brother (she was married to George Harrison and Eric Clapton who wrote Layla and wonderful Tonight about her).

Saw Noel Edmonds at a beach restaurant in Cannes.

Shared a lift with Bono in Monaco. He smiled and I just thought 'that bloke's a bit old to have such long hair' before realising why he was familiar.

Mydogmylife · 04/11/2020 00:30

I dated a guy who was in the same class at school as Roger Taylor ( drummer from Queen for all the youngsters out there lol)

BadlyDrawnSimpsonsCharacter · 04/11/2020 00:45

I have another one actually...my friend went to a drama school in London and did a short movie with the main girl in Star Wars, I forget her name.

I got an airport bus in Boston and thought I recognised someone I went to school with in it. It was Phil Jupitus. I didn’t go to school with him but just knew he looked familiar. Thankfully I didn’t say hi. Blush
