Or is it against the rules?

In spirit, I don’t see the issue (we won’t be near other humans)

In letter, I am not sure, is it allowed or not this time around to rent a self contained accommodation?

OP posts:
Booboobibles · 01/11/2020 17:38

You don’t have to ask for permission on here. You’re an adult.

BroomHandledMouser · 01/11/2020 17:39

FFS not these stupid questions again Angry

Lulu1919 · 01/11/2020 17:58

It's not allowed

ShreksAuntie · 01/11/2020 18:04

The Gov guidelines are v clear. Stay at home. What but don’t you get OP?

Bluntness100 · 01/11/2020 18:08

The op is fully aware now. I’m sure the later posters know that.

Janaih · 01/11/2020 18:10

Here we go again Hmm
I dont think ywbu. But it would be illegal.

BIWI · 01/11/2020 18:14

FFS. The OP posted to say she hadn't realised the rules, but now understood it wouldn't be allowed, at 14.43 this afternoon.

And still, over three hours later, posters are still piling in and on her.

Doesn't anybody ever bother to read the whole thread? Hmm

emilyfrost · 01/11/2020 18:41

It was not explicitly mentioned in the government announcement I read yesterday.

Yes, it was. How much more explicit than “stay at home” do you want it?

MiniMum97 · 01/11/2020 18:46

No you can't. It categorically states:

"Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed. This includes holidays abroad and in the UK. It also means you cannot stay in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with. There are specific exceptions, for example if you need to stay away from home (including in a second home) for work purposes, but this means people cannot travel overseas or within the UK, unless for work, education or other legally permitted reasons."

The rules are very clear this time imo.

HareHoo · 01/11/2020 19:03

Nope. You will have to go to the petrol station, local shops... we all have to follow the rules. No one is special.

PurpleDaisies · 01/11/2020 19:10

Those things are not a given. It’s the overnight stay that makes this an absolute no. There’s no need to add other reasons.
Aridane · 01/11/2020 19:19

@Dominicgoings

And we wonder why we’re fucked?
Yes, the rock climbing OP has brought pandemic upon us
nosswith · 01/11/2020 19:31

Not allowed, no overnight stays elsewhere. Even for Dominic Cummings.

NorbertMeubles · 01/11/2020 19:48

Have you heard of Google OP? Also what bit of stay at home and lockdown do you think allows you to go on a weekend away?

TheSunIsStillShining · 01/11/2020 19:51

@Lcats
I used to climb in a diff country, could you help me out with good climbing spots in the UK?
I've been doing indoor bouldering for the part 8 years only and it would be great to go outside somewhere next summer.
In return I can recommend some great climbing spots in Europe :)

Dominicgoings · 01/11/2020 19:52

@feelingverylazytoday

No, just surprised that they're asking on here instead of consulting the Government website People do it all the time. Quite often they don't really want to know the answer, just to start off yet another wankfest about what a shitshow and a shambles it all is and Boris is a fat wanker etc etc etc. I'm sure this OP is genuine though 😁
Sure as a sure thing Grin
goodhairforlockdown · 01/11/2020 19:54

I don't believe the poster is so thick, they are just stirring the pot.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/11/2020 19:55

Nope. You will have to go to the petrol station, local shops... we all have to follow the rules. No one is special.

Well I’ll be doing that. Ok, it’ll be in my hometown but I’ll still be going to the petrol station and shops!

ChickOnAStick · 01/11/2020 20:04

Honey there is a lockdown lolz

Just stay at home! :D

Morsmordre · 01/11/2020 20:11

@Nanny0gg

Aren't these threads just glorious?

The OP asks a question, accepts the answer and asks for clarification of source so she knows more for the future.

And then everyone else feels like they're in the mood for a pile-on where they can be as rude and nasty as they like even though the OP has accepted the answer.

Lockdown fever already?

Couldn't say it better!

Depends what sort of climbing you do. UK is fabulous for trad and (to a lesser extent) bouldering.
The classic closest to me in Peak district is the Stanage Edge (trad). There is also lots of bouldering right there and this is all a stone throw from Sheffield, and all very child and animal friendly if you need that. There are lots of other places in the UK, particularly sea cliffs, I haven't been yet, but one day when my kids are bigger.

You will need a guide book, I like the ones by Rock Fax (Rock fax climbing guide series, google them - they are amazing!)

@Bluntness100

This is just a massive pile on. Appalling.
It really is quite sad that people think it's ok to speak to someone like this. Even from behind a screen.
tinkerbellla · 01/11/2020 21:17

As in the people shouting at her, not you @Bluntness100 Blush

BeardieWeirdie · 01/11/2020 21:45

Apologies for my “walk-in only” comment - I’m in Wales and that’s the deal here under our lockdown. Plenty of bouldering, trad and sport climbing here in Snowdonia.

@MiniMum97 where did you see this? I’m trying to find the quote so I can use it tomorrow. We had an email from the holiday cottage company we are with saying we had to be out Weds, and we’d get a refund - fine by me! Then phoned today and said we can stay until Sunday Confused I cannot find your quote anywhere from the govt. Many Thanks x
