To rent a remote farmhouse for next weekend getaway

Or is it against the rules?

In spirit, I don’t see the issue (we won’t be near other humans)

In letter, I am not sure, is it allowed or not this time around to rent a self contained accommodation?

OP posts:
MaxNormal · 01/11/2020 15:05

Oh god OP don't ask, you'll get screetched at six ways from Sunday on here.

MaxNormal · 01/11/2020 15:06

And we wonder why we’re fucked?

Probably not because two people stayed in a remote farmhouse and went climbing. But at least you get a chance for some nice invigorating spleen-venting.

Goatinthegarden · 01/11/2020 15:07

Of course not. It also seems a bit selfish to do extreme sports, like climbing, during a lockdown.

I mountain bike but didn’t go at all over the last lockdown because I accepted that we had a part to play in trying to keep the pressure off of the NHS....It has never happened yet, but there’s more likelihood of ending up in A&E throwing myself downhill on a bike than going for a little jog around the neighbourhood.

PurpleDaisies · 01/11/2020 15:07

@Dominicgoings

And we wonder why we’re fucked?
The op was asking a question. It was answered and it looks like she is no longer going.

I’m not sure that’s grounds for thinking we’re all fucked.

Elderflower14 · 01/11/2020 15:08

Oh my days! What part of LOCKDOWN did you not understand??? 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

BlusteryLake · 01/11/2020 15:08

You asked this question on here, claiming to be unsure of the rules, without first googling "national restrictions"? It is literally the first result and states very clearly that you cannot stay overnight anywhere for leisure purposes.

Goatinthegarden · 01/11/2020 15:09

@LindaEllen
If you like climbing, you can climb the walls like the rest of us.

😂😂😂

AnotherSlice · 01/11/2020 15:12

OP:
See the Gvt website here: www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november Section 11.

"Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed. This includes holidays abroad and in the UK. It also means you cannot stay in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with"

It will be law from Thursday.

Law, not a guideline, not a woolly definition of 'unnecessary travel'. You cannot stay away from home overnight.

Dominicgoings · 01/11/2020 15:12

But the rulez don’t apply to meeeeeee and they’re sooooooo confusing Confused
Stay at home.

Seems fairly simple to me Wink

Brighterthansunflowers · 01/11/2020 15:14

YABU

Of course you’re not alllwed to go on holiday! Just because it involves sport doesn’t make you a special exception to the rules

We may not be fucked because two people want to stay in a farmhouse. But we are fucked because so many people think rules don’t apply to them or don’t even bother to look them up at all. Obviously the biggest examples of those are politicians which just makes us even more fucked.

ChasedByFox · 01/11/2020 15:14

It wasn't allowed last lockdown either! Confused

Preferably on Zoom whilst baking apple crumble ( It’s the new banana bread)

Bluntness100 · 01/11/2020 15:15

Gosh It’s like the start of the first lock down all over again...😂

Toilenstripes · 01/11/2020 15:17

Just wait, there will be many more of these types of threads. Remember the first wave when everybody acted confused?

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 01/11/2020 15:17

@BeardieWeirdie

No unnecessary travel so you can only climb if you can walk in from your house.
That's not my understanding. You are allowed to drive somewhere for exercise, you could during the last lock down.
crossstitchingnana · 01/11/2020 15:18

@Lcats

It would be sport related (we climb, but the place is too far to go without spending the night there)
The new instructions are clear; NO OVERNIGHT STAYS. HTH

Oh it’s going to be the same folks screeching stay home, you’re killing people, and it will never end, ever, we will be locked up forever..
TiersTiersTiers · 01/11/2020 15:22
Biscuit

Is there also a dumb emoji?

JinglingHellsBells · 01/11/2020 15:22

You cannot travel to a 2nd home or a holiday home.

Can you not read the guidance instead of asking here.

TiersTiersTiers · 01/11/2020 15:25

@Bluntness100

Gosh It’s like the start of the first lock down all over again...😂
Isn't it.

Dumb, dumb and dumber strike again. It fills the day realising how stupid some people are though when not working due to restrictions. I wish people could just follow things for a really strict short term lock down, rather than this endless threads of really thick questions......

maddiemookins16mum · 01/11/2020 15:26

STAY AT HOME.

It’s like people just don’t understand 3 simple words.

MrsExpo · 01/11/2020 15:27

No, you can't. What part of "stay at home" don't you get??? Also, if the accommodation is obeying the rules (even if you're not!) they shouldn't allow you to go, regardless of how remote it is.

Nice try though ....

For the record, we have a holiday cottage booked in a remote country location for the last week in November (DH's birthday)..... just me, DH and the dog, as we love to walk. Of course, we're not going. Sad ...

Smallsteps88 · 01/11/2020 15:28

I don’t understand what it is about people that read the rules and think “but that doesn’t actually apply to me, right?” What is it within this type of person that makes them think their climbing holiday would be exempt from a national lockdown? Confused

Coughsyrupsucks · 01/11/2020 15:28

We are going to a pre booked cottage in Norfolk today, we were supposed to be there until next Sunday but we have to leave Thursday for lock down, so I think you won’t be able to.

I don't think the OP actually said that but there are posters on other threads saying it.
