To think being over two hours late for a press conference...

is a bit of a cunty thing to do?

I completely understand that this is not an everyday occurrence, and it would be nice if things were absolutely in place before our glorious leader addressed the nation.

However, if I rocked up two and a half hours late to work it would not go unremarked on. I cannot simply choose to arrive two and a half hours late to a hairdressers appointment or to catch a flight.

Why say you will hold a briefing (which incidentally we weren't even expecting) at 4pm, then 5pm and then ever increasingly later? It seems really disrespectful to the public who are left waiting to know what will happen. Say it will be at 8pm and be done with it.

@lyralalala boris hardly leaked it did he , the person who did is irresponsible and so is the media for running the story

timeforanewstart · 31/10/2020 19:02

@TableFlowerss probably release millions were so didn't make sense to announce then

BigBadVoodooHat · 31/10/2020 19:03

@Bluntness100

To be fair I don’t think this is he’s just rocking up late. Im surprised anyone thinks that, I think that they are announcing due to the leaks as they are not quite ready. So it’s not he’s late, it’s more he’s not ready yet and will announce when he has it nailed down.

I understand they are starting an investigation into the leaks and are furious.

No, that can’t be it. They have clearly had everything ready since mid-afternoon, but Boris has decided to have a nice bubble bath and catch the start of Strictly before he ambles out in his dressing gown with a mimosa on the go.

Caveat: sarcasm. I’d much rather they were late and pulled together something vaguely coherent than rushed out a garbled mess because their hand was forced by the leak. And I’m using ‘they’ repeatedly here because the government is not one solitary person calling all of the shots at their own convenience, contrary to the popular MN opinion that the government is solely ‘Boris’.

His team have leaked every single announcement to be made so far. He's hardly put a stop to it...

timeforanewstart · 31/10/2020 19:03

@lyralalala how do we know what time was released we get told by the media ?

MrsPernicious · 31/10/2020 19:04

Ooooh, he's sober enough to start

PathOfLeastResitance · 31/10/2020 19:05

Dear Johnson, hurry the feck up, strictly is due on.

Hayeahnobut · 31/10/2020 19:05

Can't believe people are falling for the leak line. This is what they do every weekend, brief the media to gauge public reaction. But this time it backfired so they're going to scapegoat someone for it.

BoingBoingyBoing · 31/10/2020 19:05

I imagine they had to find whatever pub he was in and sober him up, the useless cunt.

timeforanewstart · 31/10/2020 19:05

@BigBadVoodooHat exactly also i think members of the opposition will of had to be informed and so what if its a little late just turn it on when its on , if you miss it you can watch it later nothings being brought in tonight

BoingBoingyBoing · 31/10/2020 19:06

"Can't believe people are falling for the leak line."

Spot on. Time and again significant policy has mysteriously found it's way to the press before being confirmed officially

How stupid do you have to be to keep falling for it?

Lansonmaid · 31/10/2020 19:06

The England - Italy 6 nations rugby match has just finished......coincidence?

lyralalala · 31/10/2020 19:07

So all of the media just happened to decide he was having a 4pm press conference? Then they all just happened to be reporting that it was pushed back to 5pm?

Ok then

WarmSausageTea · 31/10/2020 19:08

He’s basically trolling the whole country, it’s quite the trick.

Also, he’s an absolute shit and I hope he is utterly fucking miserable in the job he schemed and plotted to get.

lyralalala · 31/10/2020 19:08

Exactly. "leaking" has been their tactic the whole way through this.
Lurchermom · 31/10/2020 19:10

@BurningMam

I'd rather him be late than turn up and say "I'm still knee deep in shit with unions, I have nothing to announce".
I dunno, I'd quite appreciate the honesty!
OrtamLeevz · 31/10/2020 19:13

He's not hours late, he's several days early - his hand having been forced by the unspeakable gutter press.

Unsure33 · 31/10/2020 19:16

God what a lot of moany know it all posters on here .

Not what I thought mumsnet was for .

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 31/10/2020 19:17

Definitely a twatish thing to do. The way the situation has been handled is absolutely shambolic.

mbosnz · 31/10/2020 19:20

Not what I thought mumsnet was for

REALLY?! Hmm

Orkneys · 31/10/2020 19:21

Whatever he does people like you are going to complain the man cannot win.

LastTrainEast · 31/10/2020 19:22

indeed. He shouldn't have brought the virus to the UK at all until the vaccine was ready.

Bambooble · 31/10/2020 19:23

Fucking hell OP, what a pathetic thread. I'm not a fan, but the times were shared by the delightful media, there would be little point him pandering to that even if he had nothing to say as it hadn't been hashed out.

pinkksugarmouse · 31/10/2020 19:24

He was probably finishing his picture in his colouring book.

LakieLady · 31/10/2020 19:25

@Chloemol

It will probably be because he has to negotiate with the bunch of back benchers who don’t want a lockdown
On another forum, someone retweeted a journo who said that some Tory MPs had "gone nuclear".
