To think being over two hours late for a press conference...

is a bit of a cunty thing to do?

I completely understand that this is not an everyday occurrence, and it would be nice if things were absolutely in place before our glorious leader addressed the nation.

However, if I rocked up two and a half hours late to work it would not go unremarked on. I cannot simply choose to arrive two and a half hours late to a hairdressers appointment or to catch a flight.

Why say you will hold a briefing (which incidentally we weren't even expecting) at 4pm, then 5pm and then ever increasingly later? It seems really disrespectful to the public who are left waiting to know what will happen. Say it will be at 8pm and be done with it.

@pineapplepalmtree

they hadnt finished deciding what they were going to say, and how to answer the press questions before it was leaked. so.. they're having to quickly figure it out now Blush.
This.

The plans being discussed and the planned Monday presser have been rapidly brought forward due to a leak.

I just hope that it's not a rush half information job because of the rush.

We need to know exactly what is happening g, why, the plan for after and plans for further restrictions (schools etc) of cases don't decrease

Nostrings457 · 31/10/2020 18:48

Yes he has been forced into this press conference due to the leak however when we weren't even expectingia conference today so why they put out a time frame they couldnt meet is another sign if their incompetence Hmm

Legoandloldolls · 31/10/2020 18:48

He is making me look timely and I'm late for everything!

Its stressing me out actually. Oh here he comes.....

mbosnz · 31/10/2020 18:49

Well finally. . .

tobee · 31/10/2020 18:50

Dh informs me (from Twitter) word is that it's because back benchers are kicking off.

TriciaMcMillan · 31/10/2020 18:50

@Murraytheskull has it. Nothing to add. Ugh.

Wineinthegarden · 31/10/2020 18:50

Did they have to try and sober him up before putting him in front of the cameras?

lyralalala · 31/10/2020 18:50

@Crunchymum

I'm not a BJ fan at all but this has been caused primarily by the media.

Otherwise protocol would have been to raise in Parliament on Monday, the "leak" has forced things to be done back to front.

This isn't Boris' fault (first and only time I'll ever write or say that!!)

However there is of course the valid argument that this should have been done weeks ago Shock

If Boris and co hadn't leaked it to the media then the media wouldn't have said anything...

Leaking has been their tactic the whole way through this so it absolutely is Boris' fault

thecatsthecats · 31/10/2020 18:51

Jesus, we wait three hours for them to start with a slide show.

Newpuppymummy · 31/10/2020 18:54

It’s embarrassing

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/10/2020 18:54

@keiratwiceknightly

Oh I DO hope someone's punched Gove on the nose.
Snout.

Punched Gove on the SNOUT.

Choccyp1g · 31/10/2020 18:56

And the slides aren't fitting on my tv.

eddiemairswife · 31/10/2020 18:57

We only need the experts to explain it to us, Boris can go back to the telly.

user1497787065 · 31/10/2020 18:58

It's two days early due to the leak of documents.

lyralalala · 31/10/2020 18:58

Why on earth are they waffling about three different models/scenarios and blah, blah, blah

When will they learn that clear and conscise is much better?

Lesserspottedmama · 31/10/2020 18:58

The snout.. oh that made me snort with laughter Grin

timeforanewstart · 31/10/2020 18:59

Did he actually post the time or did the news decide what time they think he would
Seeing as england rugby game on and a lot would be watching it makes sense to do after
Media have behaved shockingly throughout this whole pandemic
Already causing people to rush out and empty shelves today

lostguider · 31/10/2020 18:59

He was watching the Rugby.

lurchersrule · 31/10/2020 18:59

@BurningMam

I'd rather him be late than turn up and say "I'm still knee deep in shit with unions, I have nothing to announce".
"I'm still knee deep in shit with my rabid 'libertarian' back-benchers (and also trying to sober up..)."

There, fixed that for you.

Yes but you are not as important as he is .

That. There may be some arguing going on which wouldn't be made public.
lurchersrule · 31/10/2020 19:00

@Ihatefish

Well their hand has been forced to do today not Monday because of a leak that is under investigation- they are possibly fielding questions from Labour trying to kill time whilst Andy Burnham goes underground with his £60 mill
Yeah, this shit-show is definitely Labour's fault...

They released the times.

The media can only report what they're given. If Boris and co hadn't leaked their lockdown plans there would have been no reporting on it.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 31/10/2020 19:01

@tobee just seen that on the news. Seems a lot in the commons are not happy about this second lockdown

TableFlowerss · 31/10/2020 19:01

Bet he was watching the rugby!
