Travellers foodbank challenge.

Posting for traffic and suggestions.

We have started the fb challenge again this year as it's needed more than ever.
We challenge family members to buy an extra weeks worth of food and donate to food banks. Nobody is left out, we all have to rise to the challenge and want to, tbh.

I have posted on dozens of pages asking to remember to include san pro.
If anyone has suggestions that might be forgotten, I'd appreciate the heads up. Also, just to let the people in supermarkets and food banks aware, as this is usually done on such a big scale.

So far I have family in Leicester and Cheshire signing up. But will post other areas as I become aware.
Any suggestions will be very helpful.
Tia.

Which sanpro? Would buying supermarket own brand at 55p each be bad if I only use Always at £2.50 each for myself?

@Doughnutlady

This is THE most perfect thread for virtue signalling. Bravo.
By raising awareness and encouraging more people to help out?

@Doughnutlady

Absolutely! Fabulous, the earnest questions, the desperation to show how inclusive you all are. It’s just all so noble.
Thank you! And you know the best thing about it? People will get food to eat and essentials for health and dignity during this shit time 👏 👏 So I couldn’t care less about who posts what and for what motivation, apart from the out and out racists, but they seem to have been escorted from the building, so yay!
Doughnutlady · 30/10/2020 17:59

Yay indeed.

Saucery · 30/10/2020 17:59

@Doughnutlady

The “pet care” suggestion being particular wonderful Hmm
I feel a bit of foreshadowing going on......dun, dun duuuuun!
FreezerBird · 30/10/2020 18:00

The “pet care” suggestion being particular wonderful

Why? We're often asked for pet food. It's a genuine answer to a question.

What do foodbanks need? Sometimes, pet food.

I'm really struggling to see what's wrong with that.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/10/2020 18:02

Got rid of racists and dic**eads arrive🙄

(I am censoring myself as it looks like MN van cope with cunt, but not much else😁)

I haven’t read the whole thread so probably already on here
Anti bac wipes

Don’t mind me, just fostering another lurcher with a deliberately broken leg. It would be interesting to know what the people on this thread are actually doing on the ground. Just keep patting yourselves on the back in your city apartments.

What a ridiculous thread.

Did you really just say that asking and talking about what food banks need is ridiculous thread?

Give over.

And not everyone lives in city apartments🖕

SunbathingDragon · 30/10/2020 18:08

It’s wonderful that you are doing this.

My local food bank has this list for what it would like (and what it already has plenty of).

Travellers foodbank challenge.

Ah. I see what you're doing here.

Now who is virtue signaling and patting herself on the back, eh?
Doughnutlady · 30/10/2020 18:09

Yes I did. The backslapping love in on this thread is painful to read. I doubt many of you have any involvement in traveller issues or are even aware of what they are but you flock to a thread desperate to talk about “Sanpro” and lightbulbs.
It’s cringing to read.

Not going to respond to it anymore, and I am sure your report fingers are sore.

recededpronunciation · 30/10/2020 18:13

Great idea - really worth checking what your local food bank needs. I work at one and ours doesn’t need any san pro, we’ve always got far more than we can deal with or give away, but do desperately need some other items that will go into the christmas food parcels we make up every year.

SciFiScream · 30/10/2020 18:15

As a direct result of this thread (so thanks again OP) I've just looked up what our local food bank urgently needs and sent a screenshot of that to my DH who is at Tesco now.

We were paid on Wednesday so have a bit of spare cash.

Will still donate a bit of cash too.

Our local food bank urgently needs

Meat free tinned spaghetti
Sponge puddings
Laundry detergent
Shampoo and Conditioner
Household cleaner and disinfectant

That might help your list OP?

The3Ls · 30/10/2020 18:19

I tend to do hot chocolate nice treat can be without milk and warming if low on funds for heating. Hopefully got electric or enough gas (on job) to warm water

wewillmeetagain · 30/10/2020 18:19

I think it's a great idea! I would personally buy the same as I would get my own family for the festive period, obviously minus the fridge/freezer food. Little treats as well as standard food.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 30/10/2020 18:21

Oh, shite off Doughnut.

There have been some great suggestions.

CakeRequired · 30/10/2020 18:24

Find it hilarious that people struggled to understand op and had a go for her being a traveller, when the same people no doubt think travellers are uneducated. Grin No idea how anyone couldn't get it, it was bloody obvious.

Good luck op with the donations and ignore the idiots.
