I know I’m posting so it can’t be that bad but it really is !
Pain killers are not touching it ,been sick and the pain is excruciating.
Any home remedies?
Have tried heat/cold, dark room and trying to sleep it off .
Feel like a drill would be handy about now to release some skull pressure !

Have you had a bit of caffeine? Caffeine can help working with the pain killers.

AdoptAdaptImprove · 29/10/2020 17:54

The only painkillers which work for my migraines are paracetamol and codeine. Don’t forget that if you’ve been sick you may have lost your most recent dose.

Caffeine can help, as can chocolate for me, though I know for some people both are triggers.

You have all my sympathy, they are terrible. Hope you get some relief soon.

whingebenefits · 29/10/2020 17:55

Maybe you need Sumitriptan. I think pharmacists can give it without a prescription if you have a consultation with them. If you phone first you could find out

TweeBree · 29/10/2020 17:55

Do you have any tiger balm (or Vicks Vapo rub works to a lesser extent)? Rub it into your temples and forehead.

VioletSunset · 29/10/2020 17:58

Sorry i don't have any advice but you have my full sympathy Flowers migraines are the fecking worst. Really hope it buggers off soon OP x

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 29/10/2020 17:59

Two aspirins dissolved into full fat coke. Or normal aspirin if none over is available, it's just changed the speed of how it works. Rest up.

Sewsosew · 29/10/2020 18:00

I find eating on something salty helps (someone recommended it on here to me). So I now always eat plain crisps.

Whitepots · 29/10/2020 18:00

Migraleve always work for me - its paracetamol and codeine plus an anti-sickness component. I have to take it promptly though or else it doesn't work... It might be different for others though.

You have my sympathy, they can be so debilitating.

Hopeisnotastrategy · 29/10/2020 18:01

For future reference, order yourself some peppermint oil. Put it in your temples, forehead and the back of your neck. Apply a damp flannel to them all. It will go cool and prickly and the smell will also help. ( Dab some under your nose).

You can also put a couple of drops in a mug of boiling water and inhale it. ( Very good for a stuffy nose). No more than two drops if you've got the good stuff, otherwise it will blow your head off.

Do not touch anywhere delicate when you have peppermint oil in your hands!!!! 😱

DazedandConcerned · 29/10/2020 18:01

Years ago when I was working in medical licensing all of the doctors I worked with swore by codeine/paracetamol and ibuprofen at the same time.

I can't tell you if it works as I'm allergic to codeine but may be worth a shot.

Sunnydaysstillhere · 29/10/2020 18:02

Chocolate, ice pack out of the freezer. Cold room and sleep.

LucyLovesCheese · 29/10/2020 18:03

If you haven't tried take three dissolvable aspirin - if you are not on any blood thinners and check the information in the packet to make sure you can take them-works every time for me xx

Hopeisnotastrategy · 29/10/2020 18:04

And get off your screen! 😊 A cool dark quiet room is good.

dontputitinyourmouth · 29/10/2020 18:07

Two ibuprofen, two paracetamol and full fat coke takes the worst of it away for me and dulls it to a headache rather than migraine

Kazziek · 29/10/2020 18:09

Syndol often helps for me, then Naproxen if it hasn't died down within 45 mins. 1 more Naproxen after an hour, then the triptans!
Loads of full fat coke, and for some reason a sea sounds playlist on Spotify seems to help!
I hate migraines, especially the ones where my hair hurts. Feel better soon OP

GordonsAlive85 · 29/10/2020 18:11

Co-codamol, a can of coke and a packet of salted crisps. Also, I find a hot shower helps

TheCovidHalfStone · 29/10/2020 18:13

Headache & migraine relief book on audible, or other audiobooks in general can help distract me. Has to be through headphones, and audiobook has to be a compelling fiction eg fantasy. Totally agree full fat coke + painkiller of choice.

Fcuk38 · 29/10/2020 18:14

I have a chronic headache condition and the only thing that gives me relief is a bottle of lucozade. Ironic as caffeine brings the headaches on and i avoid it. But once i have a headache it sorts it out.

museumum · 29/10/2020 18:18

Sumatriptan is the only medication that works for me. It’s not a painkiller it deals with the cause of the attack in the blood vessels but you might be too late I have to take it at the first signs before the pain starts. See your gp about getting it for future attacks.

Noidea2114 · 29/10/2020 18:19

My DD places her feet in a hot bowl of water and puts a cold compress on the back of her neck.

gingerwhingerwife · 29/10/2020 18:22

Migraleve, hot water bottle on my head and a pitch black room is what works for me

BadDucks · 29/10/2020 18:23

I take codeine and paracetamol. For the sickness I eat pretzels and it does help the head a bit too. I think the salt on them really helps and I have lots of ice lollies as I find I can’t tolerate any drinks when I have a migraine. I have an emergency stash of pretzels and ice lollies that no one is allowed to touch!

Feellikefrighteningyeah · 29/10/2020 18:25

Pharmacy . Sumatripan.

Harp1977 · 29/10/2020 18:25

Salt, caffeine and full sugar coke, a cold compress for your head and lavender or tiger balm rub for your temples.

Widdendream77 · 29/10/2020 18:26

I second taking a couple of syndol and then ibuprofen an hour later if I’m not comatose by then. Triptans were great when I was younger but don’t get many these days so can usually cope without. Hope it goes soon Sad
