Crap Flowers

CrapFlowers · 27/10/2020 19:43

Ordered some flowers for Dsis birthday from a popular online florist.

I was expecting beautiful roses and thistles in muted tones and instead got a petrol station special.

I emailed the company who’ve told me I got what I paid for. They clearly think I’m being unreasonable. I know I’m not, so over to you:

YABU: they’re beautiful substitutes and definitely look at least as glamorous as roses

YANBU: £50??!!! Bloody hell!

You ordered a lovely boquet, and they gave you filler flowers. I'd not be happy. There's no way the boquet they provided was more than $20 in value.

Catwoman1985 · 27/10/2020 21:26

No that's a rip off. I'd be pretty annoyed.

kursaalflyer · 27/10/2020 21:29

Yes mainly a garage bunch. Chrysanth type ones, blue tissue paper ones and carnations that will never bloom. £3.50

userxx · 27/10/2020 21:31

@Paperyfish, I was going to say exactly the same 😉

1WildFlower · 27/10/2020 21:31

They are lovely but not great value for £50.

MarieKlepto · 27/10/2020 21:41

Oh, god no. £50! I had a really strange experience with Serenata a few years ago. Got a gift card to choose my own and went ahead and ordered a particular bunch to the value of the card. Confirmation stated a completely different (cheaper) bunch would be sent. When I politely queried, the"customer services" reply stated that I was being difficult and did I want any flowers or not? Never went near them again!

nitsandwormsdodger · 27/10/2020 21:43

The first bunch look hand tied I.e arranged in the hand and stems snipped so that they look like a well arranged bunch in a bag with water in them if you know what I mean ?
Unless your sister has snipped them all the wrong length what you had delivered was randomly cut and not a nicely arranged bunch
Definitely complain you have been ripped off

Spermysextowel · 27/10/2020 21:46

The ones that you chose were lovely. What they delivered looks like a mixture of car-park weed (buddleia?) & garage flowers. In colours that clash.

pinkprosseco · 27/10/2020 21:46

Yes. Crap flowers. Thanks for the warning I will avoid the company. M&S are generally pretty good.

DinkBoo · 27/10/2020 22:29

Awful! I'm sorry you have recieved such poor service. Please don't drop your complaint.

And now I'm really worried as I keep ordering from Seranata to deliver to my gran in her very locked down care home. I never hear anything about them (beyond occasionally hearing they arrived Sad very locked down Sad ), so have been having to trust them. I'd buy Aldi flowers if I was allowed to visit as it is a real stretch even to spend circa £20 on flowers every few months.

Pinkandwhiteblossom · 27/10/2020 22:36

Interflora and Serenata are awful. I’d call back tomorrow and escalate your complaint.

I sent Interflora flowers to a funeral once and was horrified by what arrived. I got a full refund and donated to charity

Don’t let this lie OP

Pinkandwhiteblossom · 27/10/2020 22:36

@DinkBoo if I were you I’d find a local florist who’ll do it for you. What arrives will be much better value

MarshaBradyo · 27/10/2020 22:39

That is so bad

DinkBoo · 27/10/2020 22:46

@Pinkandwhiteblossom I really should, and always mean to, and then I end up going with the quicker option and trusting a 'national' firm to be reliable Blush

SarahAndQuack · 27/10/2020 22:46

Those look awful!

So many small businesses are really struggling at the moment, I think big chains who take the piss really do deserve to get told when they're providing a poor-quality product.

At this time of year, eryngium (those thistle-type flowers) and purple gladioli would be easy to source, so would various types of white 'filler' flowers and greens. The roses will be expensive because they'll be flown in. But you could make a beautiful bouquet, in the colours you wanted, quite easily! They just didn't even bother to try to make it look worth £50. And that's particularly cheap of them given that eryngium are incredibly long-lasting, so it's not very likely a florist couldn't source them at this time of year, and have them looking good.

Iamthewombat · 27/10/2020 23:38

Bunches (another online flower delivery business) are also crap, should anyone be interested.

Justmuddlingalong · 27/10/2020 23:46

Put your post and photos on their Facebook and twitter pages.

mammmamia · 27/10/2020 23:49

Gosh OP I would report that to trading standards.

I’m worried now about online flowers. I’ve been using Prestige Flowers loads for gifts recently. I once got sent flowers from there and they were lovely and came with a tiny free box of chocs and a discount voucher for a future purchase and I’ve been using them ever since. Perhaps they’re too good to be true? Anyone received flowers from them recently? I also used them last week to send a fruit basket to a sick relative and now I’m cringing that the quality might have been crap.

1Morewineplease · 27/10/2020 23:49

What @Justmuddlingalong said.
Disgraceful.

katy1213 · 27/10/2020 23:54

That bears so little resemblance to the advert that I'd complain to trading standards. Keep bugging them on facebook and Twitter: 100% of Mumsnet readers agree that flowers from (company name) are a let-down. Say it with roses - but you'll get supermarket Xants. Name and shame!

Neolara · 27/10/2020 23:55

I agree that they don't look like they cost £50.

I've been getting letterbox flowers from Bloom and Wild and have generally been very pleased with them.

Flowersupnorth · 27/10/2020 23:57

I am a florist - they are not worth £50. There may be a similar stem count but not similar value flowers and very poorly arranged.
Really sorry and I hope they reimburse you - not nice when it's a gift from you either.
I would really suggest in the future googling independent florists local to the recipient- you will get better value for money as they don't have to send a chunk to the relay company and also they will take more ownership over their product. Nationally The Real Flower Company and really good and flowers always match their images well.
Good luck with a refund x

kazillionaire · 27/10/2020 23:58

If they are sticking to their word then get those pics and their name on all the social media platforms you can think of, they have been getting away with this for years

chickenyhead · 27/10/2020 23:59

Really badly put together bouquet.

The focal flowers such as the gerbras are buried under cheap filler chrysanthemums, I would be gutted.

12309845653ghydrvj · 28/10/2020 00:14

They are really taking the piss. There’s bad service, but that?!
