Lots of us struggling with dc atm. Me included!! Today I am off work and promised ds we would make use of the Disney plus I paid for ages ago!!
Dd15 offered to make lunch..
So I am sat watching Beauty and the Beast eating left over pie and a jacket potato!
What has your dc done to restore your faith in them lately?
Ds 19 has just come and given me a huge tight hug so my day is going swimmingly!!

11m old DD has just worked out how to cuddle someone back. As in, 3 hours ago. It is EVERYTHING.

TheGreyElephant · 27/10/2020 17:41

I had to take 6 year old to hospital for some tests. Got complimented by not 1 but 2 staff members on my "extremely polite and pleasant child" was very proud.

I was also told last week by her teacher that she struggles but is lovely and well mannered.

Shame she's not so good at home Wink

Subeccoo · 27/10/2020 17:44

DS 20 took DS 15 to their dad's work today (on his way to his work) which got me out of a massive my work logistical problem this morning. However, I am sitting in my nice quiet house and have reason to suspect big DS is already back in our town, and I dont think he has younger one with him. If this is the case and I have to drive 12 miles in the shitty weather, I think I will cry!!! Time to go make a phone call...

hiredandsqueak · 27/10/2020 17:46

Ds2 came here on his lunch hour today because dd2 is on half term. He brought me a latte and dd2 a barista bear. Dd2 had made lemon and white chocolate cake for him coming. Seeing how happy they are to see each other always makes me happy.

ProfessionalWeirdo · 27/10/2020 17:49

Back in March, at the beginning of lockdown, DS1 (adult) said to me "Please try not to get sick". That meant an awful lot to me. He's also offered to help with anything DH and I might need. I don't like to bother him unnecessarily, but it's very reassuring to know the offer is there.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/10/2020 17:49

DD1s keyring on her school bag broke. DD2 came to me with her purse to order her a new one.

MonkeyPuddle · 27/10/2020 17:50

My DS told me I was the ‘best girl in the world’ the other day. He’s 3 and I’m very pregnant. I cried.

SpookyGin · 27/10/2020 17:52

One wrapped their beloved and usually jealously guarded dressing gown around me when I was feeling cold, wet and miserable. Another, when I finally did something for them long overdue, just said a very heartfelt 'thankyou, thankyou' instead of something akin to 'about bloody time' which would actually have been quite justified. And another, saved my specs from being crushed or lost when I suddenly dozed off unexpectedly, exhausted on the sofa. It's the little things.

InvincibleInvisibility · 27/10/2020 17:55

Mine both tell me they love me and give me huge hugs every day. Makes up for refusing to do as he is told (DS1) and the daily squabbling.

DS2 (6) told me today that he "loves mummy's soup" and ate every drop.

fuckfuckingcovid19 · 27/10/2020 17:58

Everyday my 4yo tells me he loves me and I'm beautiful. He also sings songs to the baby (36 weeks pg), fetches me glasses of water and helps me do housework.
I'm so lucky to have him.

Iamnotminterested · 27/10/2020 17:59

DD2 lets me search in her ears for wax Blush

Sunnydaysstillhere · 27/10/2020 18:01

It was ds (9 today) birthday. His two older sisters (13 and 11) had a sleepover in his room which he loved and they have all hung around with each other today and really enjoyed each others company. I They are all going through a stage at the moment where they all love each other very much and it makes my heart melt.

I just hope it lasts Hmm

Mylittlepony374 · 27/10/2020 18:02

Yesterday walking in the woods my 3 year old took my hand and said" hold on tight mummy, Ill go first and I won't let you fall".

Wellyouknowbest · 27/10/2020 18:14

@sunshineandshowers21
He sounds like an absolute gem,

BathtubGin · 27/10/2020 18:25

We all have covid here- at the end of 2 weeks and taste just coming back

My DS 21 ordered me wagamamas and paid!
My dog (puppy) cried when I left the house of the 1st time in 2 weeks.

mbosnz · 27/10/2020 18:28

One daughter put the wash through and folded it without asking, the other daughter, upon hearing that today was a very hard day at the office, put a bottle of wine in the fridge for her poor technology beleagured Mum!

BeigeFoodLover · 27/10/2020 18:34

@sunshineandshowers21

me and my partner are recovering from covid, feeling awful and exhausted - but still have four kids to look after. this morning our 13 year old got up with the three youngest (6, 2, 5 months) and made them breakfast, fed and changed the baby, and then put a film on for them all whilst me and partner had a lie in. we woke up at almost dinner time and couldn’t believe he’d managed to keep them quiet and entertained for that long. he’d even put the washing on and cleaned the kitchen. he’s been rewarded with some fifa points and a mcdonald’s delivery so he’s buzzing.
I love this entire thread, but this has just made me well up. Well done you! He sounds wonderful 🥰🥰
JakeChambers · 27/10/2020 18:41

My daughter got her ipad today for her birthday and has done little on it yet but send me a stream of messages telling me how much she loves me. Yesterday she wrote me a song and a letter asking if she could always be my baby

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 27/10/2020 18:43

My 13 year olds attitude has disappeared! I even asked her if she misplaced it. She said she doesn't know but I don't seem to annoy her as much anymore. She said she is enjoying just being happy! She even woke up early to make me a coffee this morning

My 6 year old has found her Christmas spirit early! So she os singing all the christmas songs.

My 4 year old, well, she is still my little maniac practicing to take over the world!

DontTouchTheMoustache · 27/10/2020 18:45

My 4 year old tidied up his bedroom and the living room for me while I was working as a surprise

LyndaSnellsSniff · 27/10/2020 18:52

DC1 was recently elected student representative at school for a subject he loves and DC2 was elected as a House Captain at his school.

I feel so, so proud I could burst.

Lndnmummy · 27/10/2020 18:59

My two boys are my saving my sanity at the moment. They are just glorious. They both randomly say “I love you mummy” several times a day and my eldest son (9) just text me a rainbow picture and said “you are my rainbow mum”. They are the best

RedLimoncello · 27/10/2020 19:09

I love this thread!
@Ohalrightthen
@sunshineandshowers21
@runninguphills
particularly made my heart fill!

I’ve had some beautiful drawings from my 4 year old today because I’m the “best mummy ever” (there seem to be a few of us on this thread) and I’ve just had a lovely little conversation in Irish with my 6 year old who’s in an Irish speaking school and has really hit her stride with the language and it makes me so happy and proud😍

wendz86 · 27/10/2020 19:09

I had an abcess on my tooth a couple of weeks ago to the point of crying. I went downstairs to get ice to put on my face and left kitchen a mess and 9 year old tidied up the kitchen for me. She isn't one for being that helpful normally so was lovely.
