I am very organised but also very poor Grin and I have a dilemma...

We have had a completely shit six months employment/finances wise (like lots of us I know) topped off by last week - a succession of horrifically timed events like self isolation, a broken washing machine and a bank fuck up. Etc. It goes on and on.

Because I am poor yet organised I have been (thank god) getting a little amount of stuff organised each week for Christmas. We've already gone through the money I've put away. I am eyeing up my stocking drawer (which is just teeny things really, like a shower gel each for the DC, extra long charger cables, that sort of stuff). BUT I have two scratchcards in there, one for DH's and one for DS's (over 18) stockings.

WIBU to do the scratchcards in case they are winning ones? Even £10 would help at the moment, to be honest!

PS I have already gone through the time honoured MN recommendations of checking loyalty cards, eBaying everything not nailed down, I am looking for work, DH has a job 4.45 - 7am and another 8am - 4.30pm. I can't take in ironing. There is nothing down the back of the sofa. We have cut all our bills down as low as possible. We have literally done everything we can already, so I don't need suggestions just scratchcard advice Smile

PPS this is NOT a fucking begging thread - it's meant to be a bit lighthearted in that laugh or you'll cry way, so please don't anyone be a dick Grin I don't have twins and there is money on my electric meter Wink

When I lived in NZ they had amazing scratch cards. They were easily worth the dollar you paid for them as they took ages to complete all the activities and were great fun. I even got my mum addicted when she came to visit. My parents are very anti gambling but that year my dad gave mum 10 scratch cards as part of her Christmas gift.

Redwolf1 · 27/10/2020 10:28

Good luck op.
Last week I spent £2 and won £5, bought 2x£2 ones and a £1. The £1 one won £4. Today I'm going to buy a £2 one and keep £2 so I'm not down yet!

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 10:28

£100 is coming up a lot! Just saying...

ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 27/10/2020 10:29

I'm just stretching out the excitement wynston Grin

I didn't scratch them all off at once just taking a photo of each line, I am actually scratching a line at a time and giving you all proper live updates...

I don't want to scratch the third line and be disappointed I want to enjoy my daydream of £100,000 as there may be two of those on the last line...

OldEvilOwl · 27/10/2020 10:30

You have more patience than me OP. I couldn't wait so long between each line

ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 27/10/2020 10:30

Lost if you have premium bonds, you can register your serial numbers on the app and on the 2nd of each month you press a button and they tell you you haven't won anything whether you've won or lost...

I would definitely recommend it over scratchcards....

OP posts:
vdbfamily · 27/10/2020 10:31

LOST there is a premium bonds app which does a big reveal each month and is very exciting!!

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 10:31

Yes purple the colour of money!!!

Redwolf1 · 27/10/2020 10:32

I love premium bonds, I get such a thrill. O the 1st of the month I look through the "high value winners" bit to try and guess whether I've won big before finding out properly on the 2nd. I havent yet 😂 I think I've only seen winners from my county 6 times in the year I've had PB

Sawduster · 27/10/2020 10:33

ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 27/10/2020 10:37

I have won one pound!!!! And there is still the multiplier to go!!! Does anyone know if there always is a multiplier number or if it could be zero?

£2. £100. £100,000
£100. £1.00. £1.00
£1.00. £2.00. £100,000

Would AIBU to use these scratchcards or should I save them...

£2. £100. £100,000
£100. £1.00. £1.00
£1.00. £2.00. £100,000

If the multiplier was 0 you'd get nothing as 1*0=0 so that would be shit
AHintOfStyle · 27/10/2020 10:40

Ooh I thought you needed an amount the same on each line!

ReasonablyUnreasonable · 27/10/2020 10:41

I am! I have it open on a tab on my work computer; I am captivated.

Good luck!!

sharkan · 27/10/2020 10:42

I am worried about how invested I am in this thread 😂

ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 27/10/2020 10:43

If the multiplier is £1 does that mean I would win £1 or £2?

See, I am terribly shit at maths - I'm so glad no one has given me the MN favourite suggestion of matched betting Grin
