I am very organised but also very poor Grin and I have a dilemma...

We have had a completely shit six months employment/finances wise (like lots of us I know) topped off by last week - a succession of horrifically timed events like self isolation, a broken washing machine and a bank fuck up. Etc. It goes on and on.

Because I am poor yet organised I have been (thank god) getting a little amount of stuff organised each week for Christmas. We've already gone through the money I've put away. I am eyeing up my stocking drawer (which is just teeny things really, like a shower gel each for the DC, extra long charger cables, that sort of stuff). BUT I have two scratchcards in there, one for DH's and one for DS's (over 18) stockings.

WIBU to do the scratchcards in case they are winning ones? Even £10 would help at the moment, to be honest!

PS I have already gone through the time honoured MN recommendations of checking loyalty cards, eBaying everything not nailed down, I am looking for work, DH has a job 4.45 - 7am and another 8am - 4.30pm. I can't take in ironing. There is nothing down the back of the sofa. We have cut all our bills down as low as possible. We have literally done everything we can already, so I don't need suggestions just scratchcard advice Smile

PPS this is NOT a fucking begging thread - it's meant to be a bit lighthearted in that laugh or you'll cry way, so please don't anyone be a dick Grin I don't have twins and there is money on my electric meter Wink

I'm wearing my lucky pants today (not for any particular reason other than I couldn't find another pair) so I will send their lucky vibes your way via the medium of Mumsnet.

This thread has it all...gambling, naked flames, superstition, mirrors...

DD has just come in to talk to me so I have to wait for her to leave Grin I don't want to set a bad example! When I heard her get up i brought the mirror back upstairs Hmm so maybe I've jinxed it...

Have sent children into garage to play darts. Less distractions. Grin

Atalune · 27/10/2020 10:16

Come on!!!

ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 27/10/2020 10:16

Seriously I would be happy with £10! I would buy one more scratchcard with £1 and put the rest into my new glasses fund (I sat on my fucking glasses yesterday. My "spare" pair are sunglasses HmmI am so fucking annoyed, of all the times to do it!)

Has anyone won a decent amount on these? Think I got £5 once but haven't bought any for years

bellinique · 27/10/2020 10:16

Scratch the multiplier before the other rows OP! You need to fully dream this!

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 10:19

Believe.

HostessTrolley · 27/10/2020 10:19

Ooh what things do you make?

I was just reading this thread, someone mentioned eyeing up their child’s advent calendar due to lockdown....,,

WHY is no one making a 14 day lockdown ‘advent’ countdown calendar? With chocolate - or 14 bottles of wine? Grin

@HostessTrolley exactly what I thought

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 10:21

I will be here all day. Grin

ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 27/10/2020 10:22

Why 14 days hostess? Am I missing something (quite possibly!) oh, for self isolation maybe? That is an INSPIRED idea.

You could put 14 scratchcards in it...

vdbfamily · 27/10/2020 10:22

I feel a £2 win coming up. can you still get those NHS frames that came in pink, blue and clear??

Brunt0n · 27/10/2020 10:22

I never do the lottery but really enjoy the instant gratification of a scratch card. I can see why gambling could be addictive!

RaspberryCoulis · 27/10/2020 10:25

First scratchcard I ever bought, I won £100. fingers crossed, OP.

Anyone who’s crafty? 14 scratch cards and 14 choc bars or mini wine or something - self isolation countdown calendar. For charity innit?

You heard it here first...

Wynston · 27/10/2020 10:27

When will you get the next one????

lostmymitten · 27/10/2020 10:27

How do you reveal premium bonds on an app? Or am I confusing what you said?

💰💰💰

OnlyJudyCanJudgeMee · 27/10/2020 10:27

@MacbookHo

You can move an existing mirror. Make sure you hang it in a clear, clean corner of the room facing another relatively clean, clear area as any clutter (which is unlucky) will be reflected and effectively doubled by the mirror.
May I just add that you shouldn't position your mirror so it reflects the window, as all the good energy and vitality will be escaping from your home.
