How did you get famous? What for?
I'm incredibly curious and it's been slow tonight Smile

Not at all but I did hair and makeup for someone related to Jean Shrimpton the other day and have done James Packer's former wife too. Closest I have come to fame.

rosesinmygarden · 29/10/2020 06:50

I'm not famous but well known locally as I was a teacher for years and am now a private tutor.

DD finds it very embarrassing when random people at her school announce I taught them or their brother or sister.

I can't go to the local farmers market without being stopped by some parent or another. Very rock and roll Grin.

My mum used a gas engineer the other week who was telling her about his kids tutor, then he spotted a photo of me on the piano and realised the connection.

I had a new student come for a consultation last weekend and the mum told me she's the envy of all her friends as she got to the top of my waiting list first. Apparently I'm "very sought after". Who knew...

Biancadelrioisback · 29/10/2020 06:52

My dad made a tit out of himself on a UK gameshow. Hilarious and humiliating all at the same time. For a while everywhere he went people knew him. It's died down a lot now but still the odd person does.

@Hopefullynamechanged935

I am not JKR, MH or SH!
Are you Lisa Jewell?
DoctorYang · 29/10/2020 07:22

My sister used to babysit Matt Hancock's kids. He never even spoke to her when she arrived, left it all for his wife to do.

Tunnocks34 · 29/10/2020 07:40

I’m extremely famous. So famous that during the daytime I teach maths at my local high school and drive round in a 6 year old Kia Sportage.

Heidi1976 · 29/10/2020 07:53

@ifiwasascent

Oh my god, please tell me you are the fanny schmelar lady.

7catsaremycoven · 29/10/2020 09:21

@Hopefullynamechanged935

I'm googling like mad now 🤣

Can't believe I didn't think of AC??? Is that you?

Sazzle27 · 29/10/2020 09:33

Not famous myself, but my best mate is married to a guy who used to play with the Prodigy and toured with them for a bit.. he now produces his own music.

And a lady I worked with used to do beauty therapy at Pinewood studios (many many years ago); very sought after treatments, and knew lots of actresses and actors there.

porcelaine · 29/10/2020 09:37

I’m related to someone in a very famous (American) rock band from the 90s. they still do arena tours and are household name but their main fame was probably early to mid 90s. He does get still get recognised apparently but he’s not the frontman.

Hopefullynamechanged935 · 29/10/2020 09:46

Haha not guessed yet. I'm a tier below CM, more successful over here than TF. I have written six books to answer a PP's question, and all six have been bestsellers (I got very lucky very early).

user1490954378 · 29/10/2020 10:05

I'm not famous, but when I was much younger I went out with someone in a famous 90s group who had a big hit in the charts.They were in magazines (a lot) like Smash Hits, Melody Maker and the NME, and also toured America and Europe, etc. He was in another band afterwards, but very sadly passed away at quite a young age, a good few years back. I'd lost touch with him and I had since got married, and was expecting my first child, when I saw this person's obituary in The Independant. It was a big shock.

notgoodatacting · 29/10/2020 10:17

I'm not famous but am a successful screenwriter and not very successful actor. The last time I was on TV my performance got dragged here and someone on Mumsnet said I was "not very good at acting." Grin

My DP is much more famous than me, not a household name but is regularly on TV, had a major BBC2 documentary made about his life and work, has a group of fans who follow him all around the world, and has had a couple of stalkers. He's worked with more or less every celebrity from the acting world who you could name (including currently working with a one-name celebrity who's one of the biggest global celebrities around. Think Madonna level of fame.) I regularly spend time with famous people both through my own career and through him.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 29/10/2020 10:35

I would like someone from Ghosts to be on here so they can read about how fabulous everyone thinks the show is!

Also someone from Outnumbered for the same reason.

BarnardCastleSpecsavers · 29/10/2020 10:51

I’m not famous but earlier this year someone connected to politics made me famous for a bit. Am waiting for the second lockdown to see if he makes me famous again.

NaToth · 29/10/2020 11:46

@babbi, I saw your post and I immediately thought of Bob Probert. Am I right?

I met him in the UK when he was on tour. Lovely chap, but if you weren't into hockey, you just wouldn't know.

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 29/10/2020 11:52

@Hopefullynamechanged935 CA?

LittleTiger007 · 29/10/2020 11:55

My sister is a best selling author. So I’m not famous at all but I get to experience the edges of it at times such as looking after the kids backstage whilst she’s being interviewed on tv or radio. She’s also made a tonne of money and is generous with it which is nice.
She worked hard for years and a lot of it is luck as to who picks you up and if your style fits into the zeitgeist.

My boss husband is quite famous and has an Oscar. I'm friends with the daughter of a very famous songwriter.

MinnieJackson · 29/10/2020 12:35
