AIBU to think this is disgusting

Bought a footstool from DFS (not cheap either) just over a year ago. Cushion is same fabric. Look at the state of it! Apparently this isn’t a fault with the fabric . What do you think - am I being unreasonable to say that this is a fault with the fabric and it shouldn’t be used on a footstool if it isn’t colour fast? Apparently no one else has complained so it can’t be a fault .

Of course that shouldn’t happen after a year. Trading standards.

Ask DFS for the fabric testing results, including colourfastness to light. A large retailer like that should be having the fabric tested through a lab or buying through mills who provide their own testing (therefore DFS can take the issue up with them).
If there was no warning regarding keeping away from direct sunlight one year is too short a length of time for so much damage.

DFS can usually recolour the fabric for a cost. Have you asked or were you just demanding they replace it for free?

I would say YANBU: because of it's purpose it should be hard wearing and it shouldn't look like this after one year.

Just because you're the only one who complained doesn't mean it's acceptable and anyway, you've only their word for that.

£600 for a foot stool??? Wow. Did you miss the DFS sale?

It's sun bleached but that's what happens to dark fabrics in sunlight! You should have moved it.
