Work in public without looking like you are wearing pyjamas?

OP posts:
Gingernaut · 25/10/2020 17:20

You don't.

Thingsdogetbetter · 25/10/2020 17:20

By being famous or 18. Grin

pepsicolagirl · 25/10/2020 17:20

I live in elasticated waist black trousers and I could not give a single shiny shite if people judge me for it. That's how I make it work.

CeramicGuineaPig · 25/10/2020 17:21

I don't - I wear loungewear to lounge.

TheProvincialLady · 25/10/2020 17:22

If you’re wearing loungewear in public you are wearing pyjamas in public. Why would you want to wear something and look as though you weren’t?

However if people want to wear loungewear in public, as long as it’s decent / who cares?

Velvetlover65 · 25/10/2020 17:25

I dont think you can lol

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/10/2020 17:27

What sort of lounge wear. Leggings would work.

Therollockingrogue · 25/10/2020 17:29

You have to make it look intentional.
So with fleece lined wellies and a body warmer and some hay in your hair for an equestrian vibe.
Or with hair rollers and ugg boots to suggest the glamour is coming later on in the day.
Wear with trainers though and you’ll look like a burglar.

CoRhona · 25/10/2020 17:30

Unless it's fitness based (joggers / leggings etc) it's just not possible Grin

I would not dream of wearing the crap I do at home outside my house lucky DH

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 25/10/2020 17:31

I think it depends very much on how much like pajamas they look and how much uki care what what others think.

I've got a co-ord knit set and I tend to pop to the shops in it, to be fair the top just looks like a regular cropped jumper, but the bottoms make it questionably loungewear. I've got 3 other set but I definitely wouldn't leave the house in them because they are obviously not clothes haha

MummyDummyNow · 25/10/2020 17:33

I didn't think loungewear was to wear in public, that's the whole point...?

DarlingCoffee · 25/10/2020 17:33

Good shoes, good hair and a good coat.

Ughmaybenot · 25/10/2020 17:34

You don’t 😂

Atalune · 25/10/2020 17:35

I’m wearing cashmere socks, grey slim fit joggers and a black cashmere jumper. HAir is in a messy bun and I have lip gloss and mascara on. I think I look ok at the bar I am sat in. I put a bra and a bit of make up on. And a leather jacket with big statement scarf and I have some bright trainers on too. I

Serin · 25/10/2020 17:40

Hmm it helps if you are young and slim.
I'm neither so the only time I wear "loungewear" is if I am slobbing a put at home or to walk the dog (in a rural lane) before dawn or after dusk Grin

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 25/10/2020 17:56

I think there is an alternative- if you have more "ordinary" clothes which are made in soft, comfortable fabrics they can easily feel like wearing pyjamas, but still not look out of place. I prefer knit fabrics, and textures like velvet or chenille, but go for whatever feels good to you.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/10/2020 18:03

The clue is in the name.

LOUNGE wear.

kittykat35 · 25/10/2020 18:03

www.lucynagle.com/collections/lucy-x-pippa/products/lounge-pants-in-grey

I wear this set (link is to the pants but I have the hoody too) and I think the key is to do hair and make up. And good trainers obviously...

KatieGGGG · 25/10/2020 18:36

To dress it up so much you’d be as well just getting dressed.

Seriouslymole · 25/10/2020 18:40

90 euros for a pair of jogging bottoms?!! 😱😱

KylieKoKo · 25/10/2020 18:42

A normal jumper over pyjamas and make sure you don't stand up. That's what I do!

hammeringinmyhead · 25/10/2020 18:46

With an expensive wool/camel coat, dressy trainers and very neat hair and makeup, apparently.

www.bethbartram.com/camel-coat-and-black-tracksuit/

I keep seeing this in shop windows. But it's so much effort you may as well wear a jumper and jeans.

CounsellorTroi · 25/10/2020 18:59

Google leisure suit!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/10/2020 19:09

If you're concerned about what anyone thinks, just get dressed?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 25/10/2020 19:15

Lol. My loungewear are pyjamas😂
