To ask how you make loungewear

Work in public without looking like you are wearing pyjamas?

OP posts:
XingMing · 25/10/2020 20:32

Hammering, no, just a dressing gown is all that's needed according to that picture. If that is stylish, I'll cut my throat now.

HighNetGirth · 25/10/2020 20:34

Crew neck and cardigan twin set, leggings, slouchy ankle boots. Job done.

XingMing · 25/10/2020 20:35

Lounge is always, only and exclusively for wearing at home. Nowhere further than putting out the bin.

stackemhigh · 25/10/2020 20:37

Just go with neutral colours (nothing striped, dotty etc) and with no obvious lounge wear / sleep wear slogans (like bunny ears,’sleepy head’ etc ). I have some Gap 100% cotton sleepwear tops that don’t look like loungewear.

WitchesNStuff · 25/10/2020 20:38

I am so confused, why would you wear loungewear in public?

Nochangeplease · 25/10/2020 23:43

There are definitely lounge wear sets made for wearing out, kind of like tracksuits.

ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 26/10/2020 00:01

It depends what you consider lounge wear.

I can wear a lot of my indoor stuff outside ,no problem. It's comfortable, sometimes quite loose, but not specifically pyjamas so they won't look as such.

lobsteroll · 26/10/2020 00:04

I think there is a difference between real loungewear and twin-set/co-ords.

Jogger/sweater/hoodie combos look good if they are matching in colour and paired with a great coat, and your hair and makeup are relatively "done"

I also think they look smarter when they are knit/cashmere but I like the more slouchy cotton ones too.

NoSquirrels · 26/10/2020 00:04

Aren’t you ... lounging in loungewear?

OP, I think you’re doing it wrong Confused

BathshebaAndGabriel · 26/10/2020 00:06

Whenever I attempt the loungewear aesthetic, I look like I’ve escaped from a Women’s prison.

QuestionableMouse · 26/10/2020 00:08

I don't. But I have super comfortable stretchy jeans and comfortable tops.

ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 26/10/2020 00:11

Most of these would be ok to wear outside, just not the whole matching outfit. I think that's in part what gives them the pyjama look.

By wearing my husbands trackies

AestheticWitch · 26/10/2020 00:41

Velvet joggers, cashmere jumper, a lovely coat and scarf.

Luxe lounge.

ShopTattsyrup · 26/10/2020 00:47

Joggers? I buy the men's ones from H&M, I can wear of an evening while "lounging" but equally wear them to nip to the shops ... they're not stylish if that's what you're after buy they are technically outerwear so I don't look like I've gone out in my pyjamas

ViciousJackdaw · 26/10/2020 00:57

@CounsellorTroi

Google leisure suit!
Oh wow, I remember leisure suits. They used to feature in DM's Kays catalogue back in the 80s. Always seemed to be in a pastel yellow, blue or pink. Tracky bottoms, with or without elastication, paired with a zip fronted top with contrasting piping and definitely some sort of embellishment to the collarbone/shoulders area. Usually some floral embroidery.
JovialNickname · 26/10/2020 19:25

Not caring, works for me?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 26/10/2020 19:51

I think matching top and bottom makes it stand out as loungewear/pjs.

stackemhigh · 26/10/2020 19:52

@AestheticWitch

Velvet joggers, cashmere jumper, a lovely coat and scarf.

Luxe lounge.

Cashmere is not loungewear, it’s woolly!
cakewitch · 26/10/2020 20:45

You make it work by not giving one shiney shite what other people think. Most people walk around worrying about people noticing what they wear and judging them for it. The reality is, nobody even notices what you wear, nor cares because they are far too worried about what you think of them.

Therollockingrogue · 27/10/2020 11:04

Cashmere IS loungewear

stackemhigh · 27/10/2020 11:12

I meant not for me, it makes me itch.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/10/2020 11:12

Luxe lounge is the right vibe

Hush cuffed trousers (Ami's?) plus a cashmere jumper and trainers - jewellery/biker jacket/scarf/ messy bun/definitely make up

VestaTilley · 27/10/2020 14:02

You don’t: it’s for your lounge.

Go and get properly dressed.
