Holiday abroad despite stating that no body should be allowed to leave the country

Mydogisagentleman · 24/10/2020 16:08

Just that. How unreasonable would I be to go abroad for 4 or 5 days ?
I have been very vocal about people leaving the U.K. and the having to self isolate.
I think I know the answer. The alternative is decorating

If I was in the position to go abroad right now I’d be on the first available flight to the Canaries.

StephenBelafonte · 24/10/2020 16:12

It's not illegal to go on holiday so i'm not really sure what you're asking? Go on holiday if you want, I would.

Jellycatspyjamas · 24/10/2020 16:12

What makes your situation different to the people you’ve been very vocal about. I think that’s where you’ll find your answer.

MJMG2015 · 24/10/2020 16:15

What colour are you going to paint?

You'd be a complete hypocrite to go away.

I don't get why you'd even consider it when you've been so judgemental about others doing it?! And if you felt they were wrong to do it, why would you even think about doing it?

Your post is a bit baffling tbh

BritWifeinUSA · 24/10/2020 16:19

Not allowed to leave the country? Since when? Do you usually ask random strangers how to spend your free time? You’re an adult. Assess the situation and decide for yourself if it’s worth it. And let others do the same for themselves.

Okbutnotgreat · 24/10/2020 16:29

I’d be off to the Canaries in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

Mydogisagentleman · 24/10/2020 16:31

I know that I am being hypocritical, but I’ve worked all the way through this bloody pandemic.
I’ve a weeks annual leave starting next week.
I think I’m going for the painting option

Go somewhere where you don’t need to self isolate on your return. Or somewhere nice for a few days in the U.K.?

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 24/10/2020 16:37

Jet2 Tui and Ryan Air are all flying to the Canaries again at the end of October It's all open there again.

It says no quarantine on return here.

FippertyGibbett · 24/10/2020 16:41

I’d go in a heartbeat.

satnighttakeaway · 24/10/2020 16:43

I don't understand the problem, as long as you're in a position to obey any quarantine rules why wouldn't you go. As other posters have said you should be fine with The Canaries

StephenBelafonte · 24/10/2020 16:46

I really don't understand what your problem is? Is it because you said people should go abroad? Well, now you've changed your mind. People change their minds all the time. I for one certainly don't care that you changed your mind lol, why do you think anyone else would care?

StephenBelafonte · 24/10/2020 16:46

shouldn't go abroad that should say

Mydogisagentleman · 24/10/2020 16:56

I’m not in a position to isolate myself after.
I am going to be firm and stay home. We live in an area very low rates.

If you can't isolate on your return, if required, then obviously you can't go. You really don't know what is going to change in the next week or two and isolation could very quickly be back on the cards.
Hoppinggreen · 24/10/2020 16:58

I got back from a Greece last night, it was lovely

Venicelover · 24/10/2020 17:04

Why not, anyone is allowed to go provided they either go wherever they don't need to quarantine, or quarantine on their return.

I don't see an issue.

TiersTiersTiers · 24/10/2020 17:17

Not grey or magnolia please.

Go for a really lovely colour to brighten the walls up

rookiemere · 24/10/2020 17:18

How have you been very vocal about other people going away? Do you regret that now ?

AcornAutumn · 24/10/2020 17:19

Why have you been vocal?

zigaziga · 24/10/2020 17:20

I’d love to go abroad right now. Our holiday got cancelled and all other plans are falling through so we’ll be at home but if it were an option I’d be away without a second thought.

LabCoatPocket · 24/10/2020 18:30

I go to Greece in the morning, for a week. Judge me all you like.

I have seen lots of people who have been very firm in criticising others behaviour during this pandemic and then flouted the rules themselves and done the opposite to what they think should happen. You wouldn't be the first.

Stigsmother · 24/10/2020 18:34

I came back from Rhodes last week. It was fab, and somehow I feel more prepared to face the the next few weeks.
Go away and get the decorators in !!

RunBackwards · 24/10/2020 18:34

Why have you been vocal about people going away, when it's allowed and if they isolate as required?

No, you can't go, you'll have to decorate as punishment for being so judgemental. If you can't/won't isolate, you really can't go.

Why is the alternative to going abroad decorating? Go away in UK.

And maybe think a bit harder before being vocal about other people's choices in future.
