I know we’ve had this thread before, but there’s a barrel-load of infuriatingly shit advertising out there, so I think it’s time for another one Grin

Your starters for ten:

McDonald’s - boy gets his mum’s old car for his birthday. Looks at it like she iced his birthday cake in shit. Eventually decides free car isn’t so bad, blasts out a bit of Westlife and then presents her with a cold box of nuggets - paid for with the change SHE left in the car. Yeah, thanks mum - here’s some cheap fast food YOU paid for! Not even a bloody McFlurry for afters!

Phillips shavers/depilators etc., where everything is a badly-written little poem. ‘If shaving is boring and you can’t be arsed, Phillips hyperblade precision technology will remove stubble fast’.

The new Asda campaign. I know Walmart is selling Asda off, so it’s not a priority brand, but surely they could have afforded more than 46p on the ad budget? Although I think the agency got change.

Go Compare man has a chat with his real-life self. Why do we need a promo for his opera ‘career’ when they’re trying to flog insurance?

I know I’ll think of more...

The new Go Compare ones!

cushioncovers · 23/10/2020 18:49

The Hotters shoe one really fucks me off at the moment.

maadlady · 23/10/2020 19:00

Sunlife ads. "It's Juune, Dad!" Just dropped in for some of his parsnip indeed Grin

DoctorChoc · 23/10/2020 19:00

The donkey in the Super Noodle taaaaaaasty advert gives me the rage!

PapsofJura · 23/10/2020 19:15

The Nationwide one about free cake, I just want to tell her to stop being so cheap, hanging around at closing time to get free cake!

SunsetScreech · 23/10/2020 19:16

@Dozer

Shocking Audi ad online last year featuring a thin, v attractive woman in heels falling down, about how some competitors’ cars might look good but break down. Naked misogyny!
Wow, really??
Cauterize · 23/10/2020 19:18

OMG yes the Nationwide ones. So pretentious and fake - I really feel enraged whenever one comes on. So much so, that I would never bank with or use any Nationwide product!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 23/10/2020 19:24

I forgot the bloody Hillary’s Blinds trailers on the Channel 4 home shows! The fitters smile indulgently as children run around their feet playing with toy cars and blowing their trumpets Envy I had Hillary’s blinds fitted recently and got several reminder emails that children and pets were to be kept out of the room at all times!

The "My Builder" ads drive me nuts.

L4uz · 23/10/2020 19:38

@TinyPaws

Like others have said, the Oral B advert that's been around for years now.

"Bum!" (Erm, spinning actually doesn't do a lot for your glutes, you'd be better off doing some squats)

"Hips!"

"Heart!" (Who the hell has a fridge full of peppers and nothing else?!?)

"I know how to keep my body healthy, but how do I keep my MOUTH healthy??" (As if your mouth is somehow a completely separate entity from the rest of your body)

"I didn't even know Oral B made a toothpaste!" (I don't know what else you'd expect one of the most well known brands of oral hygiene products to make).

I hate that ad with every fibre of my being.

@TinyPaws I hate this advert too Grin and I often wonder if the "bum/hips/heart" woman used the same box of hair dye as the dentist!

Other adverts I despise:

Anything featuring Claudia Winkleman - she is quite possibly the most annoying woman ever to grace this planet (I don't understand how she can actually see with that horses fringe hanging in her face)

That bellend on the new Asda adverts - who the hell even is he? Asda really are scraping the barrel with him!

The Nationwide advert from a couple of years ago with those two irritating wailing banshees making up their own irritating little jingles. They soon stopped Grin

StillCoughingandLaughing · 23/10/2020 19:41

I also forgot the stupid BT ad with Raheem and Theo - the least likely couple in the world. Why would knackered broadband ‘put their romance on hold’? Can they only get it up if they’re online?

I like the sequel where June goes with him to his summer house for some of his special parsnip soup 😛🤭
YorkshireGirl35 · 23/10/2020 20:10

Another vote for Nationwide, they are just so smug! The lockdown ones with messages to their future selves were awful but I also hate the yoga bloke and the coffee shop girl now. I would never bank with them.

MrsZola · 23/10/2020 20:20

Money Supermaaaaaarket - it just makes me want to smash his face in!

maadlady · 23/10/2020 20:23

We know what they were up to in that summer house Grin

Lipz · 23/10/2020 20:24

Today I seen an Always advert, not sure if it's old or new, but it showed red liquid spilling onto it 🤮🤮

FatimaMunchy · 23/10/2020 20:25

The one for Care at Home where she buttons up the man's clothes. There is something very odd about it.

Roominmyhouse · 23/10/2020 20:27

@butterpuffed

ALL the Nationwide ones
Completely agree, they are just awful!
DominaShantotto · 23/10/2020 20:27

Any of them saying that "we know you're cacking your pants with covid but when you're ready to venture out... we're here" and about how you can contact them by internet or phone or carrier pigeon in the meantime.

By companies that DON'T FUCKING ANSWER THE PHONES ANYMORE BECAUSE OF SODDING COVID!!!

Anything where a decent 80s or 90s or early noughties track is murdered by a warbly asthmatic sounding woman.

Cheeseandlobster · 23/10/2020 20:27

Oh god. The over 50's life plans. Especially the one with the cartoon old bearded man with the daughter copying what he said in a crap fake northern accent "I'll tell you what loov" Angry Also the baby one with the pregnant daughter and the mum/parents making it all about when they might die

The fucking Asda twat with his fucking pocket Angry

The Uncle Bens twee couple singing

Roominmyhouse · 23/10/2020 20:29

@LadyLindaT

I got into trouble last time: "NO! THE LASAGNE!"
Ha ha yes!! We always laugh at that guy and his overacting. Brilliant Grin
Thedogisdrivingmemad · 23/10/2020 20:30

Hotter shoes - it's bizarre the way it's presented/ introduced not as an advert but a documentary film and incredibly irritating.

Also Estrella Dam beer about sustainability and coral reefs which have nothing to do with beer

CounsellorTroi · 23/10/2020 20:33

Yes that Oral B one - "my mouth feels stronger" - what, you mean you can take bottle tops off with your teeth now?

maadlady · 23/10/2020 20:34

Flash ad with a man and his dog. Another murder of a song also. Cillit Bang and Barry gets gagged Grin

Apassingglance · 23/10/2020 20:35

The poem about the slice of cake.

I don't care!
