AIBU to go to a hotel on my own

Littleelffriend · 21/10/2020 20:59

I have the opportunity to go to a hotel on my own this Saturday. I would only be haa as of an hour from home. I would go shopping then get take away and a bottle of wine and sleep.
I have a 4 year old and a 4 month old. I haven’t been alone since before lockdown. My partner works away but is home. DD2 is bottle fed do no issues there but I have a niggling guilt.
I am an introvert and feel like no one is getting the best of me just now. Thoughts?

Fuck guilt - you need a few hours to yourself!!!! A nice rest will benefit everyone.

Disappointedkoala · 21/10/2020 21:24

Do it! I'm very jealous!

Whoopsmahoot · 21/10/2020 21:24

Been there done that loved it., Definitely go but try and find one that you can get a massage or facial too. Something to b said for a lazy day in a spa, room service, in bed stupid early watching Netflix. No one to disturb you. Aiming to go next month or two. Go for it and don’t feel guilty, you’ll love it.

Fuzzywuzzyhadnohair · 21/10/2020 21:26

From one introvert to another...DO IT Grin

twilightcafe · 21/10/2020 21:26

Do it!
The benefits of time on your own will stay with you for a long time.
I try to make sure I have a hotel stay away from the family every year. It's bliss!

letsmaketea · 21/10/2020 21:27

Lucky you, do it! Oh, to be alone would be incredible Grin

overnightangel · 21/10/2020 21:27

Sounds great, hope you have a lovely break! 🙂

sunflowershine · 21/10/2020 21:28

Do it! I have a 4.5 year old and a just 2 year old and I have been saying for ages to DH that I am going to do this and I've never managed. We joked that for my birthday this year he was going to book me a romantic night alone in a posh hotel Grin

We want a full report of how lovely it was!

ifiwasascent · 21/10/2020 21:28

I'm so excited for you 😂🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Sparklesocks · 21/10/2020 21:29

@Littleelffriend

Oh god I love you guys. DP is fully on board and I took both girls away last weekend so he’s had a break. Hotels are so cheap just now, I’m doing it!
Yes!! If you do feel any more guilt try to remember that you recharging yourself batteries is really important for your wellbeing Smile it’s not selfish to put that investment into yourself - and you being refreshed will also mean your family will feel the effects too.
Ccarlyle8 · 21/10/2020 21:31

Bliss.

sunflowershine · 21/10/2020 21:32

I echo what @Sparklesocks said.

Also, I don't know about anyone else but I am a way better mum when I've had a bit of time to myself and a really
decent nights sleep. So, it's in your children's best interests to go, indeed it would be selfish not to Wink

Chaotica · 21/10/2020 21:39

Go! Enjoy.

Hyperfish101 · 21/10/2020 21:40

Yes. Wine. Room service. A bath. A loooong sleep. Nice breakfast.

Even better if there is a pool.

I want to do this now.

CoronaIsWatching · 21/10/2020 21:42

Oh God yes, I always LOVE staying in hotels on my own. So much peace and quiet, no one barging in on you when you're trying to get a moment to yourself. An evening where you can purely do 100% what you want. I'd go for 2 nights if you can.

Allusernamesalreadyused · 21/10/2020 21:45

OMG I used to fantastise about doing this. Go for it. 😊

Bargebill19 · 21/10/2020 21:46

Grab it with both hands and enjoy!!!

BiddyPop · 21/10/2020 21:47

I've done it for 1 night before, not the shopping but long deep hot soak in a bath, decent book to read with G&T in the bar, nice dinner, long sleep. Ok, you can't do the G&T in the bar but the night of not being on duty, just able to unwind totally, is so worth it!

AluminumMonster · 21/10/2020 21:49

Hell yeah. I have a 1 yo and 2yo so going to look at hotels now. That sounds awesome!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 21/10/2020 21:53

Do it! Do it! Do it!

Have a lovely relaxed time op CakeThanksWineGin

Coughsyrupsucks · 21/10/2020 21:56

Sorry accidentally voted YABU, that was for thinking of not going. Go, have wine, hot bath in peace and sleep. Have a lovely time!

ghostyslovesheets · 21/10/2020 21:56

DO IT!

I try to at least 4 times a year - I need the head space!

I'm also introverted (and extrovert introvert - it's exhausting) so need to be alone and silent with no demands on my time

mindutopia · 21/10/2020 21:59

Absolutely do it. I'm going away for 3 nights in a holiday cottage in peace this weekend (it's my birthday present - birthday was last month - dh knows me very well!). It's lovely. I'm going walking on the coast path, will do some yoga in the mornings, I have 2 new books to read, will cook lovely dinners and go to bed early and get a full night's sleep. I do it once or twice a year and it's great (though usually it isn't a present, I book it myself). Dh also goes away, but he likes to go with friends, whereas I find them exhausting and honestly just want quiet and no one else's needs to think about for a few days.

gamerchick · 21/10/2020 22:01

Do it! Do you the world of good.

Turn your phone off and just enjoy the peace and full night's sleep.

StressyMcstresserson · 21/10/2020 22:05

If you dont do it OP I will! Go! You have nothing to feel guilty about. Please tell us how it goes so we can live vicariously for a few minutes 😂
