To think the sisterhood is a myth in love and lust?

Just thinking about Lily James and her 'dalliance' with Dominic West, married with children.

Of course it's up to him to treat his marriage with respect blah blah ... but what about her? Is there such a thing as sisterhood when you fall in love and/or lust? Or do women push that aside in pursuit of what they want?

AIBU to think women don't follow any sisterhood when it comes to this?

I’m just wondering idly about why our attitudes to food and sex are so radically different. Because they are, aren’t they?

You're really wondering this? You honestly can't see the difference?

How about the fact that stealing someone's hamburger isn't quite the same as raping them?

So, ladies, just to recap:

*Dominic West cheated on his wife and family, so you're all a bunch of bitches.

*No, really, you are. I don't like two of my friends and can imagine cheating on my husband, and that's incontrovertible proof.

*No, really, you ARE. YOU ARE!

*Oh, all right. West is a shit. But we still need to concentrate on why that really means women are actually a bunch of bitches.

*Because I'm bored, that's why!

*And you've got no legitimate reason to be angry about the codswallop I'm dropping. You're just projecting!

*And women are obviously much more horrible to each other than men at a class level!

*What do you mean, read a history book? What's your point? Can you explain? I'm genuinely interested.

*What? You're now starting to doubt that I might be a real woman because that would make this level of internalised misogyny particularly egregious and mindless? Let me lecture you on how not to be misogynistic! This is totally my area of expertise!

How about this, OP. Whether you're a woman or not, if you hate us so much, if you think we're so horrible, why don't you go and find another internet forum with very few if any of us on there, and enjoy their company instead? I recommend places for incels, MGTOW, rating and reviewing sex workers, red pillers and neggers. Nary a woman to be found on those places, so they must be full of much nicer, less angry, more reasonable people who are so much easier to get along with than horrible bitchy women. Tell them Mumsnet says hi.

I've never seen any evidence of any kind of sisterhood tbh. There are good people and arseholes and everything in between. I've also never understood the fascination with the relationships and infidelities of celebrities.

Well, this thread is going well. I had a nice thoughtful reply all ready to go but, um, I don't think it's worth I, so I'll stick to- I don't think there is a sisterhood, or a brotherhood, most women I know are wonderful, I know as many 'bitchy' and judgemental men as women.

To be honest, I think I'm kind of done too. If my arguments sound well-rehearsed, it's because I've come across this misogyny a million times in my life and I'm going to come across it a million times more before I die.

I've made my points. Readers can decide for themselves how devastatingly they've been shot down.

Your points stand, @ShebaShimmyShake. The OP's understanding of women, history, feminism, misogyny, internalised misogyny and numerous other things seems curiously under-informed.

Oh, @ShebaShimmyShake if my post made it sound like I was being snide about your contributions, I am sorry, that was not my intention and I mentally applauded a lot of what you wrote!

Thank you. No, I didn't get that impression at all...sounded like you think much like I do.

It is a shitshow of a thread, but it was inspired by the most baseless and brainless kind of misogyny. What else was going to happen?

@Pumperthepumper

Loving your work *@ShebaShimmyShake* - although how you have the patience is beyond me.

With all the evidence we have, how people can crawl over themselves to pretend it’s actually women that are the problem in society is just beyond me. Dominic West fucked over his wife and his children, trust gone from his family forever because he thought his dick was more important, but sure - Lily James is the real bad guy here. Give over.

I would say they both were bad.

Arguably fucking over someone who you are supposed to love and have a special duty toward is particularly awful.

But fucking over strangers is still pretty shitty.

I'm glad and yes I do :)

Ooft. Such misdirected anger.

Don't hate anyone and certainly not women. Don't call women bitches either, another language insert by you not me. Not a clue what all those groups are. Sound horrible. Not sure they would know mumsnet.

Tomorrow it's scones. Fruit, I think.
