I just thought it’d be nice to ask what we’re all looking forward to. I’m trying my best to cheer myself up. Christmas is on its way so that’s what I’m concentrating on for now. What other things are we all looking forward to? Smile

Telling my 'D'P of 15 years that it's over and I'm moving out, just haven't had the courage so far

Cold winters nights where we can light the fire and watch a film or play a board game.

Wintery walks at the beach or forest then a roast at home.

Baking cookies with the children.

Making wrapping paper and Christmas decorations.

Decorating the house for various things like Halloween, Christmas and making the outside especially jolly for passers by to enjoy.

Lighting nice candles.

My second son being born in around 5 weeks, a long awaited sibling for 4yo ds and I'm really looking forward to being a mother of 2 Smile

Mindymomo · 19/10/2020 16:56

@shitinmyhandsandclap. I wish you well with that and hope you find the courage to leave. I do believe that a lot of people have evaluated their lives this year and are looking for change.

almondfingers22 · 19/10/2020 16:57

The thing is, I don’t really like Christmas any more, but I’m trying to summon up a bit of enthusiasm. I feel like all the joy has been sucked out of life at the minute, so that’s my goal right now, to have a nice (but different) Christmas.

Half term (I won't be at work) Instead I'll a bedroom, and hopeful buying a carpet for another. Getting rid off lots of junk at the bottom of the garden and having a bonfire. Carving pumpkins. Drinking mulled wine around the bonfire. I haven't even thought as far as Christmas yet.

SeaDreaming · 19/10/2020 17:01

Barring any new lockdown issues, I've booked a few nights in a hotel from xmas eve to just after boxing day. I don't really celebrate xmas, but I am going to make the most of having breakfast made for me every day.

NeedToKnow101 · 19/10/2020 17:02

A trip to Venice when it's possible.

Be strong!!

When are you planning on telling/going?

Pepperwand · 19/10/2020 17:08

Lighting candles and sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine.

I've been to the shop today to buy the ingredients to cook a new recipe. I also picked up everything to make a full English breakfast at home at the weekend, we never do that and I'm looking forward to it.

DS is 3.5 so we're going to go bigger on Halloween this year. I've booked pumpkin picking at a local farm and we're going to decorate cupcakes with orange and green icing and watch Coco. I really dislike trick or treating so this year is perfect!

I'm also looking forward to Christmas, there's comfort in the continuity.

How do you feel about adoption? I'd live to live at your house!! Open fire, near the beach, playing games.

Seeing my sister and nephews next week. Meeting outside for a long dog walk so they can search for the fairy doors in the woods. (Nephews not dogs!)

I splurged a bit too much money on tickets to the staged concert of Les Mis, with Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Matt Lucas for the week after Christmas.

It’s socially distanced so fingers crossed it will go ahead. The One Show More performance on BGT made me realise how much I miss how much live music makes you feel. Les Mis makes me cry like a baby but it makes me feel ALIVE!

Pearsapiece · 19/10/2020 17:22

Christmas, Christmas films, making cookies with ds to leave out for santa, watching all the Xmas specials of the kids shows (I know, what a knob!), Halloween, dc2 arriving in January, a daughter, and I cannot bloody wait to meet her, feed her, smell her and just scrunch her up through winter until spring!

Good luck, get it over with!
nevermorelenore · 19/10/2020 17:25

Wish I'd known about Les Mis! That sounds amazing.

Looking forward to Halloween. Going for a spooky ghost walk to look at decorations then eating lots of sugar. Even if christmas will be small and very different, I think it'll be nice. I'm looking forward to smelly candles, xmas movies and big mugs of hot chocolate. Also, getting the chimney swept next week and I can have the log burner back on!

insideoutsider · 19/10/2020 17:31

A trip to my home country.

Currently, visitors from the UK can't enter without a whole load of tests and paperwork due to Covid. I never thought it would be more difficult to go there than enter the UK.

nibdedibble · 19/10/2020 17:37

What a lovely idea for a thread.

I admit I’m really struggling to think of anything. Maybe, the next clear, bright day so I can spend it all outside?

Mince pies? I know I could have them now but I like them close to Christmas. (Also I’m no-carbing, haha!)

Related: looking forward to my next half-stone off!

lynsey91 · 19/10/2020 17:44

I wish I could think of something. Usually it would be Christmas but this year will not be the same as normal.

There should be 16 of us from 8 different households but even if the rules are relaxed enough for that to be possible, which is highly unlikely, it is doubtful one of my siblings will be able to be there as her DH is recovering from a serious op. That means her children and their partners, obviously, will be with her rather than the rest of the family.

Me and DH were meant to be in Venice last week and I was so excited as I have never been but then Italy brought in the rule about having a negative test 72 hours before you fly. That just was not possible so we could not go.

I really dislike winter because of the dark mornings and evenings or rather afternoons so not looking forward to that at all.

I think I would have to say next summer in the hope that we have good weather and most if not all of the restrictions are lifted so we can go out, go to the theatre, concerts etc
