Would you let your daughter play Rugby?

My daughter goes along for training sessions with her brother and enjoys them. There are some girls there but tbh not many. No one has said anything about my daughter doing it but have lost count of the amount of "there's no way I'd let my daughter do this" or "my daughter wouldn't do it , she's a princess" comments. They haven't really bothered me but today for some reason they have. I don't know, almost as if it was being inferred I didn't care about her because I was letting her join in with such a "rough sport"

@Norma27

I wouldn’t let my daughter play whilst Rugby England allows biological men to play in women’s teams.
To my knowledge, this is not allowed. They did an algorithmic construction of whether it would be safe based upon average body size etc and determined that it would be safe for female sex to play on the men's team but would not be safe for the male sex to play on the women's team. I may be incorrect but that's what I've been told.

Yes, if she wanted to. She plays roller derby, which involves pretty similar levels of slamming into people.

Better rugby than gymnastics or ballet where they look at their body shape at such a young age!!

If she wanted to, I would let her, but I wouldn’t encourage her towards it. Just like, I have an older DS who I let play rugby, but I’m not enthusiastic about because I worry about head injuries.

My DD who is 11 plays contact rugby, rugby can be dangerous whether you have a penis or not 😂

@MonkeySnake, World Rugby have said biological males cannot compete at international level on women’s team but Rugby England said last week that they would allow transwomen at all other levels as they didn’t think there was enough research yet 🤔
