To ask if you see your neighbours having too many people over at christmas will you report them?

Just that really. Will you actually report your neighbours if you see they have over 6 people at christmas, if the rule of 6 is still in place?

Yabu: yes i will report them
Yanbu: i wouldn't report

From my point of view, i wouldn't report.

If I spent my Christmas day peering out the window to count my neighbours' guests I would have to start asking myself what went wrong in my life Confused

MarinPrime · 17/10/2020 20:21

No of course not.
And even if I wanted to I'd have to stand by the window all day and night counting who goes in and out. Buggered if I'd do that.

LolaSmiles · 17/10/2020 20:24

Absolutely not.
I'd not be reporting anyone at any time unless it was a huge piss take.

YouLikeTheBadOnesToo · 17/10/2020 20:24

It wouldn’t even occur to me to report it, no. To be honest I can’t even imagine I’d notice what my neighbours are doing.

TwistAndTout · 17/10/2020 20:26

Yes I will definitely report!

Oh what's this, a ghost has appeared before me! The Ghost of Christmas Past, you say?

GarlicSoup · 17/10/2020 20:26

‘Report’ to who exactly?

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 17/10/2020 20:27

NO!
I have great neighbours. If they are having their family over, I wouldn’t even consider trying to count whether they are 6 or 10. Christmas is about being with your loved ones.

If they invite a whole village? That might be a different story 😂

alphabetsoup1980 · 17/10/2020 20:28

I would!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 17/10/2020 20:28

@TableFlowerss To be fair, snakes are a health risk too Grin

No, I wouldn’t shop a neighbour, not even the scummy ones who stole my broadband although I’d be bloody tempted . As @ShesMadeATwatOfMePam says, there’s more that just Covid threatening everyone’s wellbeing.

alphabetsoup1980 · 17/10/2020 20:28

A pandemic???

actiongirl1978 · 17/10/2020 20:31

We can't see our neighbours houses anyway, we live in the country. Couldn't give two hoots what anyone else is doing.

CrappleUmble · 17/10/2020 20:33

Will I shite

Twillow · 17/10/2020 20:35

@Redtartanshoes

No:

My neighbour regularly has her (police officer) son and his family over... taking the number in the household to way more than 6:.. and we live in an area where are you aren’t supposed to socialise at all

And therein lies the problem. Too many people thinking it doesn't apply to them. Their friends and relatives couldn't possibly have covid.

I don't want people to be terrified, of course - but when you've had a family member die of it (and not old either) you do tend to act with more responsibility. Sad

MainliningMarzipan · 17/10/2020 20:35

Never in a million years and if I thought anyone I knew would then they'd be binned off very quickly.
I'll be doing as I please and I fully expect everyone else to as well.

MoistMolly · 17/10/2020 20:38

Yes, I would. Just like some neighbours tried to report our household for celebrating Eid.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 17/10/2020 20:39

Nope- Because I'm not the Grinch and this year has been shit enough without wrecking Christmas too...

MrsMayo · 17/10/2020 20:40

No and if we are already talking about reporting people at Christmas I can see Mumsnet being fucking annoying over the next few months

MrsWhippey · 17/10/2020 20:40

No way. Wouldn't report anything Covid tier rules related, what other people are doing is non of my business and I like to keep it that way.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 17/10/2020 20:41

@MoistMolly

Yes, I would. Just like some neighbours tried to report our household for celebrating Eid.
And that was super shit since it was decided just before
gluteustothemaximus · 17/10/2020 20:42

Can't stand my neighbours, and still wouldn't report them.

Twillow · 17/10/2020 20:42

This thread is terrifying. So many people really think the rules aren't important yet the rates are rising like crazy??

MuthaFunka61 · 17/10/2020 20:42

Gatherings over 6 people happens quite a lot in the area I live in, I just give these people a wide berth.

Hellononame · 17/10/2020 20:43

Who even has enough time on Xmas day to watch who is going in and out of houses Hmm

No way

jessstan1 · 17/10/2020 20:49

Never in a million years. I rarely if ever see my neighbours anyway and when I do, they are nice people. I do not grass anyone up. As far as I know, they are sticking to guidelines but I wouldn't know if they were not.

Casschops · 17/10/2020 20:52

Its all gone to pot im not doing this anymore. Im going to be sensible but what kind of nasty fucker would report someone.
