The clothes. The hair. The music. I loved the 90s and want to be transported back this evening via the medium of film!

Please recommend me a film that ticks all my nostalgia boxes.

Big

So many already mentioned that I love!

Singles
Reality Bites
The Truth About Cats and Dogs
10 Things I Hate About You
Strictly Ballroom
The Dish
Heathers (dark but so funny)
Out Of Sight
Cinema Paradiso (weepy but heartwarming)
Clueless, obvs
Groundhog Day
Grosse Pointe Blank
Addicted To Love (very off-kilter but great)
While You Were Sleeping
Almost Famous

There are a couple of documentaries that are wonderful too -
Hoop Dreams about aspiring basketball players and Etre Et Avoir about a one-room rural school in France before it closes.

If you accept 2002, Spellbound is about a bunch of kids practicing for ther National Spelling Bee in the US and is similarly charming.

Heathers (although technically 1989)

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 18:42

Oooh, if we are counting late 80s, I'll throw in Working Girl. Very fleeced and loads of overblown late 80s fashion to laugh at- reminisce over.

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 18:43

Fleeced - feel-good

EvilPea · 18/10/2020 18:47

@Nostalgia1990 - so what did you watch in the end?

I've just watched a couple of early episodes of Jonathan Creek on iPlayer - 1990s, but Alan Davies not exactly the epitome of style.

Thanks so much everyone, I'm going to make my way through all the suggestions I haven't yet watched - should keep me busy for at least the rest of 2020 Grin

Someone suggested Lost in Translation so I gave it a go. Totally brilliant.

Lost in Translation doesn't even fall into your extended years criteria! 😆 It is a great film though, but definitely not 90s.
