The clothes. The hair. The music. I loved the 90s and want to be transported back this evening via the medium of film!

Please recommend me a film that ticks all my nostalgia boxes.

Only you
Sleepless in Seattle
Practical Magic
The Witches of Eastwick
Moonstruck
10 Things I hate about you
Never Been Kissed
The Wedding Singer
The Full Monty

Muriel's Wedding - one of my faves :D

TrickorTreacle · 17/10/2020 19:34

I can't believe no one have mentioned any Disney films. The 90s was a great time for Disney, as they did pretty poorly after Walt Disney died and then the 90s was their comeback decade:

Beauty and the Beast 1991
Aladdin 1992
The Lion King 1994
Pocahontas 1995
Hercules and Hunchback 1996/1997
Mulan 1998
Tarzan 1999

I probably got some of the year numbers wrong but they were definitely all in the 90s!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/10/2020 19:40

The Parent Trap (with Lindsay Lohan).

I watched About a Boy the other day, and instantly recognised the credits for Pet Rescue!

StormBaby · 17/10/2020 19:40

My favourite 90s movie is Swingers but it’s hard to get hold of.

Katjolo · 17/10/2020 19:46

Father of the bride. Love that film.

scissy · 17/10/2020 19:53

We just watched Beethoven this evening with DD. It was fun Smile.
Otherwise I like "10 things I hate about you" and "Never been Kissed".

Sleepless in Seattle

While you were sleeping

33goingon64 · 17/10/2020 20:00

Four weddings.

KizzyWayfarer · 17/10/2020 20:02

The Truman Show

MillieMollieMandi · 17/10/2020 20:02

'Reality Bites' it's pure 90's!

Beanbag12 · 17/10/2020 20:16

Muriel’s Wedding is an amazingly feel good film. Love Forrest Gump too

AgnesNaismith · 17/10/2020 20:18

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the film)

I still want the leather jacket.

DesperatelySeekingSunshine · 17/10/2020 20:47

Serendipity

burblish · 17/10/2020 20:59

I second the recommendation of these classic Aussie 90s films: Muriel’s Wedding, Strictly Ballroom, Priscilla Queen of the Desert - and I would add The Castle.

A few others (non-Aussie!) I don’t think have been mentioned yet: Sense and Sensibility (ok, not set in the 90s obviously!), Sister Act, Groundhog Day.

Ohdoleavemealone · 17/10/2020 21:05

Get over it

CandlesBlanketsandTea · 17/10/2020 21:11

Strictly Ballroom is awesome! I love Moulin Rouge but that's 2001 and always makes me cry. I'd suggest Ghostbusters but they are both set in the 80s.

fassnk · 17/10/2020 21:13

The truth about cats and dogs

easterbuns1 · 17/10/2020 21:16

Another vote for Four Weddings and a Funeral.

I also love Sweet Home Alabama, it's 2002 so just within your extended rules.

musicalfrog · 17/10/2020 21:18

That Thing You Do! (OK not set in the 90s but so feelgood!)

The Wedding Singer

This Year's Love (not quite so feelgood but very 90s!)

Election

throwingawaymyshot · 17/10/2020 21:28

oh fuck, I haven't seen strictly ballroom for so long!

Love Sliding Doors and Only You. Two of my favourite films.

Was Forrest Gump not a 90s film?

Nefelibata86 · 17/10/2020 21:32

Don’t believe Jerry maguire has been mentioned yet though a podcast I listened to recently unpicked it and took the shine off !

Rapunzathepenguin · 17/10/2020 21:32

While You Were Sleeping
The American President
Casper
Legends of the Fall
Hocus Pocus
Practical Magic
Speed
Clueless
10 Things I Hate About You

And if we're talking TV shows, the BBC's Pride and Prejudice has to be one of the best "feel good" offerings ever.

premiumKale · 17/10/2020 21:40

Loved reality bites and the soundtrack was brilliant ! Big mountain and Lisa loeb
Few other good songs too
Have to say though I did quite fancy the big mountain singer
