Am I daft? Felt like I caught someone's eye on a Teams call....

Earlier today there were around ten of us on a Teams call. Loads of small squares. I looked over at someone (neither of us talking) and they quickly looked away - like you do when you're been caught staring at someone...

Am I mad? Obviously people are in different square layouts on different computers. But, there was a definite linking of eyes for a second and then the other person quickly looked away a bit embarrassed. Or at least that's how it looked to me!

AIBU to think they were looking at me? Or am I just bonkers?! Has this happened to anyone else?

Deja vu

grassisjeweled · 16/10/2020 00:54

Like a guy who's interested?

SD1978 · 16/10/2020 00:55

Given everyone should be looking at the camera- maybe a wee bit bonkers. I wouldnt read much into that. Have you or they used teams much? It's hard going to begin with- but as people get more comfortable it becomes more natural.

Boom45 · 16/10/2020 00:59

Too long in lock down! Does mad things to us all.

flyingant · 16/10/2020 01:23

That's not possible, surely. If it looks like someone is looking at you, it just means they are looking directly at the camera. If they were looking at your picture on the screen, they wouldn't be looking at the camera, which would look to you as though they were looking somewhere else, not directly at you... I think!

Silvergreen · 16/10/2020 01:45

Most people look at themselves on teams calls 😂

orangejuicer · 16/10/2020 01:47

OP love, no.

Fruitytooty12 · 16/10/2020 01:57

I’ve had this. Maybe I’m bonkers too!

DizzyPigeon · 16/10/2020 02:01

Lol.
Yes, you are daft!

Runkle · 16/10/2020 02:04

You might not have even been visible on his screen, looking directly means he's looking at the camera. The look away could've been the doorbell ringing.. And so on. Just no OP.

raddledoldmisanthropist · 16/10/2020 02:09

Well there is a very similar post on here tonight, maybe that's him? ;-)

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 16/10/2020 02:13

He was looking straight at his camera. You can't make eye contact on a group call. The only way it can appear to a third party as if you two made eye contact would be if you were both looking straight at the camera, not at each other at all.

Notimeforaname · 16/10/2020 02:23

No he'd have been looking at his camera. Sorry Grin

Sparticuscaticus · 16/10/2020 03:17

GrinGrinGrin
MS teams doesn't work like that... you can't tell who anyone else is looking at.

Lockdown fever...

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/10/2020 03:22

This is so cute.

cheesemongery · 16/10/2020 03:54

If he was looking at you, he'd have been looking down/up/sideways at your pic on the screen. Direct eye contact means he's looking straight at the camera so no eye contact at all.

I'd have been tempted to go all Robert De Niro - you looking at me? You talking to me? But I don't have much going on in my life these days.

LunaNorth · 16/10/2020 04:01

Flash your tits next time. If he falls off his stool, he was looking.

FourPlasticRings · 16/10/2020 04:11

No, as others have explained it doesn't work that way. Bless you.

WishingOnACarrot · 16/10/2020 07:23

Loving these responses - thanks all. I started this thread after a couple of wines - I'm normally far more sensible :-)

Hahaha this is me, then I try to make an effort not to but don't want to look at one person Grin

OP I doubt they were looking at you, your tile could have been anywhere

WishingOnACarrot · 16/10/2020 07:40

I only look at myself too! Normally...

Worstyear2020 due to some technical glitch my OP posted twice. So there's actually two completely separate threads with the same title 😳

I look at the most fun/kind/friendly/attractive person on the call, seeing as no one can tell who is looking where I figure I might as well let my gaze rest on a nice person, doesn't everyone do this?!
