To be annoyed with DH for forcing me to isolate?

DH has athsma, he had run out if his usual inhaler and his chest was tight, painful and he had a chesty cough (this happens a lot, what with weather change and no inhaler). he called docs and she told him she cant give him antibiotics untill he has a covid test as he may have covid. That was fine, but then he told me that i would need to isolate with him and get a test too. i completely disagreed with this as neither of us had symptoms but he shouted at me and said i was being careless. So we have both been tested and are now isolating untill the results come back.
im fuming because ive had to take time off work last minute, kept kids off nursery and school. Hes using this time to do nothing but lay about all day and more or less left me and kids to it. i guess im just pissed off because i know the test is going to be negetive and we are all sat indoors for no reason.

@diddl

"As for husband lying about doing nothing, presumably he is unwell which is what started the ball rolling."

Yes-hadn't thought about that at first-why would GP be talking about antibiotics if it's a question of needing an inhaler?

It must be very difficult diagnosing over the telephone and doctors have to err on the side of caution.

why couldnt the gp just prescribe his inhaler

YABU for getting tested without symptoms
YABU for thinking you don’t need to isolate
HIBU for shouting at you - that’s the biggest issue here

Well, exactly.

Is he still without an inhaler, OP?

Lots of GPs prescribe antibiotics prophylactically for a wheezing exacerbation. It depends on the patient's history and doesn't necessarily mean he's ill. The OP strongly suggests he's not.

I have asthma and often have a cough, and sometimes get one when my inhaler is running low. Not even run out (I always have spares) but I think towards the end of the inhaler the dose is lower for a few days and you don't notice, and it causes a cough.
However, if he needs an inhaler doesn't he have a repeat prescription, rather than needing GP to prescribe?
He shouldn't need antibiotics for asthma, unless it's something like a chest infection.
Either way, unless he hasn't left the house, you don't know for sure it's not covid. He has one of the symptoms, and the rules are for him to test and the rest of you to isolate.

My daughter had a cough and when we rang 119 they said she didn't qualify for a test because it was a phlegmy chesty cough not a dry one.
