Help with my new kitchen sink

MrsSwears2Much · 14/10/2020 20:29

We designed our kitchen in January, to start fitting in May. Covid happened and now it is finally being fitted. Yay!

But

I really don't like the sink we have chosen, but my husband has asked for the opinion of the vipers here.

Yes or no?

I like it, it’s black granite, right? I have the same, but I have a black granite work top. I would have went white in your colour scheme.

Givemestrengthorgin · 14/10/2020 20:32

It's a nice sink but I think with your colours I would have gone with white

MrsSwears2Much · 14/10/2020 20:39

Thanks all. You have probably saved us from divorce 😂.
I was asking for grey when my husband said white.

Luckily the kitchen company (The Kitchen Depot for those in Scotland) have a white one in stock and ready to go, so I will ask to swap it tomorrow.

I like it but wouldn't have put it with those work tops.
Also don't like the fact the drainer is on the left side. I'm clumsy as it is and right handed so if I had a left side drainer we'd be using plastic plates! Grin

Leaannb · 14/10/2020 20:46

Its vile and doesn't match at all

LagneyandCasey · 14/10/2020 20:49

We've had all sorts of sinks but have gone back to good old stainless steel. Ours is satin stainless steel. I love it and great great satisfaction from making it shiny.
And yes it's around the wrong way.

jomaIone · 14/10/2020 20:55

Can't believe someone has actually Vile!!! Vile?? It's hardly that bad.

I do think it needs to be white but it's very smart!

ScarMatty · 14/10/2020 21:02

Really sorry but I don't like black sinks!

MrsSwears2Much · 14/10/2020 21:05

@MasksGlovesSoapScrubs I'm you but backwards 😂 I'm a lefty so this makes washing easier for me lol.

@Leaannb wow! Cheers for the input...

Sorry, not a fan of the colour (although it will hide lots of stains 😁)
Also you will end up breaking all your crockery in there!

Some folks have really strong feelings about this sort of thing 😂
StripeyDeckchair · 14/10/2020 21:34

I wouldn't have a black sink because I live in a hard water area and it would look awful very quickly

SuzieCarmichael · 14/10/2020 21:40

Nope nope nope. White is the right decision.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 14/10/2020 21:51

I have that sink in a white corian type worktop and I like it. Thanks for calling it vile.

userxx · 14/10/2020 22:03

I absolutely love it!!

userxx · 14/10/2020 22:04

@Leaannb Touch of jealousy I think 🙄

Finals1234 · 14/10/2020 22:05

I love it but perhaps doesn't match the worktops, so I think swapping to White is a good idea. Also wouldn't black just show all of the water marks and never look clean?

Brighterthansunflowers · 14/10/2020 22:38

I’m not a fan of the colour, especially with the rest of the colour scheme

Skysblue · 14/10/2020 22:39

Black would show water marks - this is why bathrooms suites are always white now. In the seventies people experimented with colour and discovered that they always had a grimy white limescale on.

So change to white.

lulupopss · 14/10/2020 22:46

I have this sink too but our kitchen has darker units. I'm not sure whether something lighter would be better in yours - it's not vile though! I use a limescale remover spray on mine which has kept it looking brand new.

Whatyoucanandcantdo · 14/10/2020 22:50

Vile? Blimey!

I quite like it actually but white probably a bit nicer. I'm right handed but have a drainer on the left 🤷

101namesforme · 14/10/2020 22:52

I have a very similar sink but in a dark worktop. I love it, it’s beautiful crushed granite and hasn’t shown water marks in 15 years despite being in a very hard water area.

That said I am not sure I would put it with your worktop to be honest.

Our sink also has the draining board on the left, we’re all right handed but that feels right to me. I am most confused that apparently I have it the wrong way (and chose to have it that way!). Hmm

Pimmsypimms · 14/10/2020 22:53

Hardly think it's vile!!!!
Doesn't really go though op, White would look better imo.

goisey · 14/10/2020 23:47

I am not keen.
It would show up water marks / limescale / soap scum unless you wanted to be a slave to it and constantly be swiping it down every time it was used.

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2020 23:51

I must have appalling taste because I like it Grin
