Help with my new kitchen sink

We designed our kitchen in January, to start fitting in May. Covid happened and now it is finally being fitted. Yay!

But

I really don't like the sink we have chosen, but my husband has asked for the opinion of the vipers here.

Yes or no?

I rather like it - but not in that kitchen, with that wood! Grey won't work either, go white or metal.

I like the sink but doesn’t look right with your worktops. I would go with white.

saraclara · 15/10/2020 00:10

Of course the drainer should be on the left. I'm right-handed, so hold things in my left hand and use my right for wiping/scrubbing. So when I'm done the plate/pan/whatever is still in my left hand and it's natural to put it to drain on that side rather than swap hands or cross my body to put it on a right-hand drainer.

Anyway, sorry but that colour sink isn't my thing, and definitely doesn't go with the rest of the kitchen.

To be fair they don’t show water marks, and I live in a very hard water area. I’d say in fact they are easier to keep clean than white or steel. More forgiving.

However white is definitely best for the ops colour scheme.

To be honest I actually like it but each to their own. If the cooker hob is also black and positioned quite near it may actually flow quite nicely? Personally my metal sink is pretty scuffed up as I'm apparently a lax but over enthusiastic scrubber when I do clean. I've also had a white sink that seemed a bit porous with some stains? Possibly also due to my lax cleaning attitude.

Dita73 · 15/10/2020 04:23

Go for white. It’ll look lovely. Enjoy your new kitchen!

PhilCornwall1 · 15/10/2020 04:27

We've got almost exactly the same sink, with a black tap that has some rose gold bits on it.

We bloody love our sink. Smile

Catsup · 15/10/2020 04:30

@PhilCornwall1 Your sink sounds very fancy! I have sink jealously 😃

PhilCornwall1 · 15/10/2020 05:30

@Catsup

It's the most fancy we've had so far. Mrs PC loves rose gold (don't I know it!! Smile), so the tap was a must.

It is nice. I have that sink

-white ANYTHING looks grotty
-porcelain can chip really easily.

If you live in a hard water area, clean it once a week with vinegar, then rinse. Mine looks brand new after a year and our water is incredibly hard

userxx · 15/10/2020 06:00

@PhilCornwall1 Really nice 👍
