YABU = Waste
YANBU = Worth it

Just that, really....curious about what subscribers think?

Yabu

It was good to begin with but I got it for £10 a month. It's just gone up to over £13 (with no warning) and I'm not sure anymore.

I might jump ship to Birchbox.

QueenArseClangers · 14/10/2020 13:11

I’m always quite happy with their monthly boxes. I’ve had Birchbox before but found it much inferior.
I’m sometimes sceptical about the RRPs of some products (normally £80 for an average cleanser Hmm) but they normally make up for more than the price of the subscription.

So yeah, pretty happy with mine and have discovered some cracking products through them.

HOkieCOkie · 14/10/2020 13:22

The first few boxes are fun but then you get fed up quickly of the same crap repeated and will end up with about 100 eye liners.

KeyWorker · 14/10/2020 13:23

I cancelled BirchBox a few months back as the samples were getting smaller and smaller. I miss my monthly treat tho so I’m currently awaiting my Very first GlossyBox.

Hadjab · 14/10/2020 13:29

It's fine, and there have been a good few fabulous items in there, but tere is a lot of repetition, such as highlighters, eyeliners, lip pencils and lipsticks, and as a black woman, it gets pretty boring, pretty quickly, when you keep getting sent the same nude and red shades of lipstick that you can't wear

JorisBonson · 14/10/2020 13:58

Just cancelled by Birchbox as I was getting loads of duplicates, so following as I'd like to try Glossybox

Raven0306 · 14/10/2020 14:01

I tried Birchbox and it wasn't very good. Look fantastic do a beauty box and its brilliant!

DontWannaBeObamasElf · 14/10/2020 14:06

I've tried Glossybox, Birchbox and Look Fantastic. I much prefer Look Fantastic.

YouBringLightInToADarkPlace · 14/10/2020 14:18

I'm very lucky, my sister-in-law gets a birchbox and usually doesn't like at least one of the products so I get her chuck-outs!

JorisBonson · 14/10/2020 14:26

To those in the know - out of Glossybox & Look Fantastic, which has the most make up?

TheFutureIs · 14/10/2020 14:29

Ive been really happy with glossybox. I've got a year's subscription. It's a lovely treat each month

FooFighter99 · 14/10/2020 14:46

I wouldn't bother, Birchbox is really not very good, loads of repeat products and IMO not worth the money
EL8888 · 14/10/2020 15:02

I liked Glossy box but got bored. Tempted by Birchbox. Never heard of Look Fantastic until this thread

penpotted · 14/10/2020 15:04

I think Look Fantastic is lots better. Cohorted is the creme de la creme if you can afford it! £35 a month Shock

DontWannaBeObamasElf · 14/10/2020 15:30

@JorisBonson I would say it varies. It's mostly skincare but I have gotten some really nice makeup products.

Violetroselily · 14/10/2020 15:46

I'm on month 5 of glossybox and I'm happy with it. I too am a bit Hmm of some of the RRPs particularly on some of the brands that are total unknowns, but on the whole I think its good value

loutypips · 14/10/2020 16:03

Birchbox is generally all teeny tiny sachets and sample sizes (not even travel sizes!).
Glossybox is better in regards to getting full size stuff though.

SoddingWeddings · 14/10/2020 16:08

Birchbox is crap - all sample sizes, often smelled stale, not worth the money.

Glossybox is great, however their customer service is appalling, boxes are delivered later and later in the month (dispatching takes weeks), spoilers are constant from paid accounts and SM partnerships, they often substitute headline items in boxes even when they say they won't and the substitutes are always crappy (think a packet single use facemask instead of a full size product). I sacked off my membership last month after delays, problems and substitutions being met with "Yes lovely, you'll still get your box" and no acceptance of the massive and wide scale issues with their service. Have a good read of the comments on any of their Facebook or Instagram posts and you'll see the levels of discontent about these things

Violetroselily · 14/10/2020 16:49

Yes agree with @SoddingWeddings the boxes seem to be later and later each month. I had to contact them once about my subscription and they dealt with the query very promptly but their SM is full of people struggling to get a response from them (except a nonsense reply as referred to above!!)

They also seem to pay anyone and everyone to be an ambassador. Imagine my surprise when an ex colleague with an insta of approx 3k appeared on the GB insta feed as one of their latest ambasadors Hmm

I purposely watch review videos each month as I like to know what I'm getting, but if you want a surprise then it could be hard to avoid

Okbye · 14/10/2020 16:58

I got glossybox for a while until I had a huge backlog of eyeliners/lipsticks/highlighters and other stuff I don’t care for. It was fun for a bit but did get boring when I had a pile of stuff I didn’t need/use/want and ended up going into work with a bag of unwanted stuff and let people help themselves - you also end up with several tubes of Dr Paw Paw balm which seemed to come in every other box! You’ll have a haul of empty boxes too! For me in the end it just wasn’t worth it.

The only thing I do miss are the special edition boxes which are good - I might subscribe for a month next month just to get the Christmas one!

TeaOneSugar · 14/10/2020 17:12

I tried a three month subscription when it was on offer I've had two boxes so far, I'm not overly enamoured. I just don't think it's for me but the packaging is lovely and I've tried some nice new products. I had a birchbox as a one off, it was tiny samples, absolute waste of time and money.

I haven't bothered with a beauty advent calendar this year for similar reasons, I just don't want a drawer full of samples I'll probably never use which will eventually go to landfill.

Anotherdayanotherdisappointmen · 14/10/2020 17:21

Do not go for cohorted whatever you do..I forked out for it and got items that looked like they'd come from a pound shop.
They also included none of the guaranteed items and when queried it I got told sometimes they couldn't guarantee the guaranteed items Confused.
After about 2 weeks of emailing them they agreed to give me my money back.
I've had glossy box twice and there were much better items in that.

sausagepastapot · 14/10/2020 17:26

Birchbox and Glossy box both shite. I have just signed up for Look Fantastic box though, looks pretty good.

stepmotherofone · 14/10/2020 17:31

I like Latest In Beauty. You host to choose your own products from a monthly selection so don’t end up with loads of things you won’t use.
