YABU = Waste
YANBU = Worth it

Just that, really....curious about what subscribers think?

Not host. Get.

I’ve just cancelled my Glossybox and echo what people have said about repetition of products. Some stuff they send is utter shite, like Imperial Leather shower gel sample in a ‘luxury’ box! Last months box tipped me over the edge, there was a moisturiser allegedly worth over £100 (which does sod all for my oil slick skin) which I would never consider buying in the future, then a couple of cheap token items - imperial leather and a chocolate bar etc. I’m now hankering after the Pretty Obsessed box but assume they’re all much of a muchness really!

Found it terrible for me, inclusion doesn’t seem to count in GB land where I’m sure only Caucasian complexions exist.
Lots of makeup monthly where lipstick made me look dead or a bronzer looked like a powdery smear of ash on my cheek.
I did receive some nice skincare but I ditched it after about 6 months when I realised I was not going to support their astonishing lack of diversity.
It’s hard to please everyone every time, I get that, but there were barely any makeup items that I could use and I was passing over half of it on every month.
There are other boxes that suit me better that have other complexions in mind so I spend my money elsewhere now.

Oh yes, a pp has reminded me of unknown brands with baffling RRPs, lord and Berry!! I may be wrong but I’ve never seen that brand in any shop in my life! Same for La Ritzy, model co and several others which I’d never heard of yet accounting for over half the ‘value’ of the box.
Didn’t bother me because I never subscribed for valuable items, it was more about having a little treat every month.

Stripesnomore · 14/10/2020 18:21

I like mine. I have only had it for 3 months but think it has been more than worth the money.

I prefer the skincare items so end up giving some of the makeup to dd. There was a huda beauty lip gloss that was matte, so she took that.

I like the Molton Brown, Avant, Wishful etc in the box.

I liked the recent box with the imperial leather foam in. There were other more expensive items in the box with it which were good. I don’t expect every item to be luxury.

Had an annual subscription, I've not renewed it. To many similar products across the year, and a few to many late boxes and substituted items. Sometime felt I was getting raw deal.

I did buy a couple of the limited edition boxes as well, they were much better and I have gone on to buy products from those.

lachy · 14/10/2020 18:41

I've subscribed for over a year and the last two boxes weren't great, were dispatched late and frankly a bit rubbish.

Sparkletastic · 14/10/2020 18:45

YABU. Just buy something you want every month.

N0tthe0nlyfruit · 14/10/2020 23:49

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to get a 3-month sub for a friend for Xmas, but it sounds like 3 months is enough.

@SoddingWeddings

Birchbox is crap - all sample sizes, often smelled stale, not worth the money.

Glossybox is great, however their customer service is appalling, boxes are delivered later and later in the month (dispatching takes weeks), spoilers are constant from paid accounts and SM partnerships, they often substitute headline items in boxes even when they say they won't and the substitutes are always crappy (think a packet single use facemask instead of a full size product). I sacked off my membership last month after delays, problems and substitutions being met with "Yes lovely, you'll still get your box" and no acceptance of the massive and wide scale issues with their service. Have a good read of the comments on any of their Facebook or Instagram posts and you'll see the levels of discontent about these things

Their customer service is shocking.

Me "why was my subscription cost increased without warning?"

Glossybox "would you like us to cancel?"
"That's not what I was asking"

"I can confirm the cost is now £13.25"

"Why aren't you answering my question?!"

"Pricing was changed in August"
