Of course Hancock is responsible for what goes on at PHE - he appointed Dido Harding to be in charge knowing she has a track record of failure - she's set to be in charge of the NHS next, FFS.
Starmer's comments on anti-Semitism are extremely well-documented and it's bizarre you don't think the actions he's taken as leader say more about his stance than what he did or said when he wasn't leader and someone else was. He's not responsible for Corbyn's views or actions and I'm amazed anyone can accuse someone of racism while defending Boris 'watermelon smiles' Johnson.
He publicly criticised Kate Green's comments and apologised, as did she, yes.
Have Johnson and Cummings apologised/resigned for undermining trust in government at such a crucial time? No. Has Jenrick resigned for being as dodgy as they come? No. Has Alok Sharmer apologised for saying anyone could pay to influence government policy? No. Has Johnson stopped referring to NHS test and trace when he knows full well it's Serco test and trace? No. We could go on and on forever. You may not be impressed with Starmer's achievements and maybe they're not all that, but this is the sleaziest government we have ever had and anyone with a shred of decency left the Tory party/was booted out by Johnson last year.
Starmer's obviously not perfect, despite me coming across as his greatest fan, which I'm not, but the OP said does he have more credibility, decency and humanity than the government, and the answer to that is patently yes and I cannot comprehend anyone who has paid the slightest bit of attention to what has gone on over the last year arguing otherwise.
Oh, and with the Tories having an 80 seat majority, voting against bills is pretty pointless. Abstaining so that amendments can be put down, and perhaps then voting against if they fail, constitutes using parliamentary procedures, which is what they are paid for, rather than making grand yet pointless gestures.
