Just a general question as it's a field I am interested in given the current situation.

If you work in the pharmaceutical industry
What is your job role?

There are a lot of different roles you may want to be a bit more specific.

pharmamarm · 11/10/2020 14:33

I know there are a lot of roles @SteeperThanHell ... that's why I asked "what role do you do?"I just want to get a feel for a few different areas and see if there's anything I have missed. Thank you

Not me, but my partner - regulatory, 45k.

pharmamarm · 11/10/2020 14:35

Well pharmaceuticals is a huge industry, there will be admin and HR and PR and comma and design and research and lab technicians and sales people and event planners and cleaners and accountants and scientists and development etc etc.
What area are you interested in?

SteeperThanHell · 11/10/2020 14:43

It’s a bit like saying if you work in a hospital...

It could be anything from working in the kitchen to neurosurgery.

More info about your background, experience and qualifications would be useful.

pharmamarm · 11/10/2020 14:45

@BrieAndChilli yes I know

I'm interested in a lot of areas but if I have to get specific...
Anything in Quality, operations, production but I am also interested in supply chain

There you go, you’ve already narrowed it down a bit!!

BrieAndChilli · 11/10/2020 14:47

The company I work for has lots of pharmaceutical clients and we go events, branding, comms, social media, videos etc so not the area you are interested in.

Xenia · 11/10/2020 14:49

I have chaired pharma conferences and have some clients in that areas (I am a lawyer with my own firm). It is a very broad area. They certainly are companies we need and will do well so a good choice for a career in my view (even though I never take a pill!!! just about)

pharmamarm · 11/10/2020 14:50

@BrieAndChilli that's why I didn't want to get specific as I am open to other ideas and areas.

swissmummy12345 · 11/10/2020 15:58

Every year, medical advances continue to accelerate and a multitude of new medicines, new indications, devices, etc. are introduced into medical practice. Patients have a right to well-informed, well-trained doctors. New medicines in particular are often highly complex and must be used responsibly. My job is to make sure our healthcare professionals know how to use and prescribe our products safely.

pharmamarm · 11/10/2020 15:59

@swissmummy12345 thank you for that! Very interesting.

OP posts:
swissmummy12345 · 11/10/2020 16:14

BSc in Biomedical Sciences. PhD in medical field. Masters in Education. Currently studying MBA. Lectured in UK university for 18 years and then Brexshit happened. The brain drain will only accelerate in the next few years as UK academia fades due to lack of EU research funding. UK academia was the biggest beneficiary getting over 25% of available funding. All gone now.
