Feet on coffee table: AIBU

Stumpedasatree · 09/10/2020 20:42

Sitting watching TV on my favourite sofa, like a normal person, not slumped or lying down, and DH next to me is sitting like he always does slumped and entire legs up on the coffee table. The feet wiggling are in my view. AIBU to get the rage?

And the feet are massive.

Do you not have foot stools? Or a pouffe?

I seldom sit up and watch the tv, I find that quite uncomfortable and find sitting with my feet up more comfortable.

The issue here is possibly your furniture doesn’t allow for it? I think people should be able to put their feet up in their own home

Haggisfish · 09/10/2020 20:46

We would rearrange so feet aren’t on view. Have you an alternative foot rest? Can’t stand not having my feet up!

Nottherealslimshady · 09/10/2020 20:48

I'm currently laid like your DH, it's the only way I'm comfortable

MiddleClassProblem · 09/10/2020 20:49

I’m imagining you sitting bolt upright 😂

littlebirdieblue · 09/10/2020 20:49

I love slouching on a Friday night after a hard week at work. I have a big beanbag foot rest which I use. Get one for your DH it makes slouching much more comfortable than his feet in the coffee table 😀

Ditch the coffee table (the 1970s called, they want it back) and get your DH a comfy pouffe for christmas.

BigPlanes · 09/10/2020 20:53

I sit between DH and the TV for this reason... but our coffee table was bought for feet really.

Ok this has to be a reverse then

Whosthatgirlitsjess · 09/10/2020 21:01

Do you care that he's half laying, that his feet are on the coffee table, that his feet are blocking your view of the TV or a combination of the three?

AmIACowBag · 09/10/2020 22:02

YABU the sofa is for relaxing on

keeprocking · 09/10/2020 22:08

I always feel real pity for men in houses like this! Is there any aspect of their lives that their partner doesn't like to control? If his feet are tickling the people on the TV then tell him to move them or move yourself, otherwise leave him alone, it's his home too!

A pouffe is the most 70s thing there is.
BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 09/10/2020 22:09

YABU - I can't relax with my feet down. Your DH needs a footstool!

Onxob · 09/10/2020 22:09

Not slumped or lying down? Nothing normal about that OP!!

Leaannb · 09/10/2020 22:35

No way in hell would someone's feet be on my coffee table. If you are that tired then go to bed

M0mmyneedswine · 09/10/2020 22:52

I always sit with feet up but someone wiggling them in my view of tv would drive me mad

DoesThisMakeSence · 09/10/2020 23:18

Yanbu. Its vile.
The very first time my fil to be visited my house he plonked himself down in the middle of my sofa and put his feet up on my coffee table.
This was the third time he met me. And the first time he was ever in my house.
This was solely my house aslo. His son still lived at home.
I hate feet. I hate feet on my coffe table.
And i especially hate my rude fils feet on my coffee table.

Hokeywokey · 09/10/2020 23:20

That's what coffee tables are for.

Shizzlestix · 09/10/2020 23:42

Get him a Lazy boy.

AfterSchoolWorry · 09/10/2020 23:56

You need recliners. What kind of nutball remains upright to watch tv!

Flavabobble · 10/10/2020 00:02

Feet on the coffee table I’d struggle to care about. Feet waggling, tapping or otherwise moving in front of or near the tv screen would incur my wrath.

This is news to me, I thought pouffes were more dated, 😂

I have a coffee table, can’t imagine not having one, where do you put your cups and stuff if you don’t have one, do you just have a big open space in front of your sofas?

Mines the same as mrs hinches, concerningly enough, but mine is about eight years old, it has books on it, flowers, and is where we put our cups, glasses etc.

We also have small foot stools, so no need for feet on the table.

Op, just buy a couple of small foot stools, then he has somewhere to put his feet other than the table, or the floor,,😃

Kolsch · 10/10/2020 06:20

Hmm, my husband once put his feet up on the coffee table. A quick rap across his kneecaps with my pace stick soon sorted that nonsense out.
