Feet on coffee table: AIBU

Stumpedasatree · 09/10/2020 20:42

Sitting watching TV on my favourite sofa, like a normal person, not slumped or lying down, and DH next to me is sitting like he always does slumped and entire legs up on the coffee table. The feet wiggling are in my view. AIBU to get the rage?

OP posts:
MysweetAudrina · 10/10/2020 06:24

I sprawl the whole length of the couch with my legs and feet on top of dh. I hate having my feet on the floor or even stretched out in front of me.

Smack his bottom Grin.

For complete feet up repulsion, checkout The Malones on Gogglebox. All watching TV, complete with 1 or 2 huge dogs, and a coffee table in the middle with a plate of cakes on it. And, often, the feet of the son right next to the cakes. Blechhh.

“I always feel real pity for men in houses like this! Is there any aspect of their lives that their partner doesn't like to control?”

Aaaaaaw, these poor men!

Sirzy · 10/10/2020 07:16

I think your the odd one sitting on parade. Relax and get comfy.

FippertyGibbett · 10/10/2020 07:26

You’d be within your rights to chop them off 😉

LadyMinerva · 10/10/2020 07:31

'I’m imagining you sitting bolt upright' 😂

'I absolutely am, it's the only way'

Oh Petunia Dursley there you are.. I was wondering what happened to you when you had rush from Privet Drive.

vanillandhoney · 10/10/2020 07:32

My question is who on earth sits bolt upright to watch TV?

Now that's not normal.

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 10/10/2020 07:42

A coffee table is meant for .... coffee. I wouldn't like it but my DH is well-trained and wouldn't do it. As for the tie-waggling. Aaarrgggh!

Buy a TV for the bedroom so he can lie on the bed and relax whilst watching it. You sit on the sofa and watch that one and maintain your good posture. Sorted.

AuntImmortelle · 10/10/2020 08:33

Hmm. I do put my shoeless feet on our coffee table. Feels wrong not to. But not if there's food on it.

Was also going to mention that family on gogglebox. Not only all their feet in the table next to the plate of (never eaten or touched) cakes, but they all wear their shoes. So ruddy great big dirty shoes inches from a plate of French fancies. 🤮

toffeekiwi · 10/10/2020 09:43

He's an adult not your child, it's not up to you whether he puts his feet on the coffee table or not.

seayork2020 · 10/10/2020 09:45

Maybe do a reward chart for him?

Bluntness100 · 10/10/2020 09:46

Agree. Everyone I know puts their feet up when watching the tv of an evening.
longwayoff · 10/10/2020 09:51

I must be very odd. I never put my feet up when watching TV. Not on coffee table, not on pouffe, not on one of those strange, upholstered, hybrids of both. I like my feet on the floor. AIBU?

Confrontayshunme · 10/10/2020 10:09

My DH has size 15 feet and is exactly the length of our sofa. His feet block the tv unless he watches with his knees up. He didn't get how annoying it was, so I made the cat block the screen for the finale of a show we were watching. Now he keeps the screen clear. It was SO annoying. Just say something or re-jig your lounge layout.

LakieLady · 10/10/2020 10:37

We have a sofa each, with a table at the end of them for our cups etc.

Coffee tables are a no-no when you live with a dog that likes coffee and tea. Even on an end table drinks aren't always safe. Many's the time I've gone for a wee and come back to find a terrier standing on the arm of the sofa with her snout in my mug, enjoying a sneaky cuppa.

Smack his bottom Grin.
Steady on, he might like it and I don't think OP would approve.
DustyMaiden · 10/10/2020 10:43

I went on a first date and invited him in for coffee and he put his feet on the coffee table. I was horrified. I haven’t forgiven him yet, 42 years later.

YABVU. And weird Grin
MJMG2015 · 10/10/2020 11:33

Trees don't slump.

Now how about you go and be a goady fucker on Reddit instead?

Marshmallow91 · 10/10/2020 11:39

Who actually sits upright to watch TV??

I never really watch TV, but if I'm in the living room, I sit sideways against the arm of the sofa with cushions with my feet up

sandragreen · 10/10/2020 11:41

LTB

BitOfFun · 10/10/2020 11:41

It's the lack of hygiene that would bother me. We often eat in front of the TV from the coffee table. Pouffe for the win!

Howlooseisyourgoose · 10/10/2020 11:44

We have a footstool but it's upstairs as DH bought a massive coffee table. So now I put a cushion on the coffee table and put my feet on that. I would prefer the footstool.
